What this shows is how hard it is to make 1st grade I only recognise only 3 or 4 names. Loved watching under 23's though it was usually the most open game.
agreed, when i was 6 and above we would love nothing more than my old man sharing the Big League at Cumberland when I could read it seeing the names in U/23's and reserves and the players numbers. Great memories.
Forwards were numbered differently those days .The lock was 8, 2nd rowers were 9 and 10,then Props at 11 and 13 with the hooker in the no 12......if I remember correctly because I'm going back 44 years.
I followed Mick Patterson's career in 77 and he was a stand out every week .I nearly cried when he left us in 1981 and went to South's .He was riddled with injuries throughout his career and retired earlier than expected.Very similar player to Terry Lamb.Wonderful Parra junior that should have played for Australia, barring injuries ,in my humble opinion.
Yes agree, this side had a number of very good players, including Mick Patterson. This was my last game at Parra due to a dislocated shoulder, & the start of a great career, Eric - best winger ever to play. All Parramatta juniors, who all loved to play for Parra
How great to hear from you Giulio. I often wondered what happened to you. You scored more 70 metre (yards) tries than anyone I can remember. There were a group of girl supporters who had a huge banner made up with "Terry's Terrors" printed on it and they made up songs for various players including yourself. The group are actually members on here but rarely post Terry's Terrors . They most definitely had a song for you which I still remember. It went to the tune of the song "Julie Anne" and went gg gg gg ggiulio pomponeo and he runs and he runs runs away...and he scores a try coz he's such a great guy..we love Giulio.... etc. The girls may make a rare post if they see you here! Thanks for the great memories mate
We'd love to hear some stories from the time Parra started to brew to eventually becoming the juggernaut of the 80's.
You didn't get many wogs playing in the 70's and 80's and I loved it when I'd read a non Anglo-Irish name in any line up being of Greek decent. I was born in 1974 and moved to Auburn when 3 y.o. Started following regularly from 1982. You were either a Parra or Wests fan back then.
This is a topic i have been dreading for years and been saying the issues for years. I need to write this down as the ideas presented recently are concerning for the NRL moving forward. To summarise, the NRL are looking at, once 20 teams are in, of…
"Its 14 less. Have they go with the same amount of rounds with more teams its 50 more games.
Are you going to pay more money as a tv station or streamer for almost the same amount and less weeks overall of TV content?
The TV stations will say we get…"
"Issue is since they have done this they cannot go back. Dan Ginnane said that last year once you go to 27 rounds you cannot go back. If you do it is to 26 rounds.
Shorter season is exactly what Bennett is saying is the issue, i have said it for…"

agreed @Eelof66 i recall being at a game where he broke his leg ? or had a serious injury. Mick Pattison was a good 5/8.
Dave Woods was gold....quick and strong and plagued by bad injuries. Think he went to Penrith and then UK after parra..v good player.

Welcome Giulio, great to have you onboard mate.
From memory, Mick broke both collar bones at the same time in a brutal tackle which was very hard to come back from
