He told me that Best and his manager are using the Eels to get more money out of the Knights and that he has no interest in moving elsewhere. Especially with his brother Baxter joining the club next year and his venture into a painting business in Newcastle.
He is not coming here, Bostock is a bigger chance.

If one is to go to Easts, it is Herbie.
That kid could end up anywhere . His old mans got close links to 4 clubs coaches that I know of and that's not even including the kids ties to Uncle Wayne who showed faith in him when he couldn't get a start at The Dragons. .
I know media talk can be different, but he seems content in staying and trying to get a deal done quickly. If he comes back to Sydney, it is open season. But i think Easts go hard for Herbie before anything else.
Good to know about Blaize. I think he should be the one. We need fullback cover and a bit of an x-ish factor outwide in the backs. Blaize can play center most times, inside of Samrani or Addo-Carr if he stays.
Best would be a good punt for 2028, if it doesn't work out, OK.
Funny isn't it, Blaize was touted as the next best thing here,..our future,.. he goes to Panthers and can't hold the 5/8 spot due to his poor defence is put on the bench, is utilised at centre due to injury,, and we want him back. Not only highlites the difference in our 2 clubs, and our attitudes but our respective ladder positions

This is honestly what agents have been doing to us for years so this news isn't surprising. I could never see Best leaving the Knights and just wanted to try and maximise his deal there. Bostock will be hard to land and we'd have to pay overs as well.
It would be better if we land Tago or Tualagi. I'm probably in for Tago, I never liked that Blaize left.
Issue for Best, if doing that, is firstly he is doing that with a team that has not a lot of money in the cap and also have Fletcher Hunt and Toby Winter. Both players are younger and cheaper than Best and can do a good job.
Secondly, his position doesn't necessarily garner a massive overpay in salary. So a team like Newcastle, though wanting him to stay, are not going to go over the top for a Centre. Particularly when they have Ponga, Young, Hunt, Winter and Marzhew as a back 5.
So he is reportedly getting $750k. Newcastle apparently are offering $850k. How much is he expecting to get out of them further, compared to what Parramatta would be offering, which is definately going to be more. Looks a bit foolish doing so for only $50-100k upgrade.
As for Tago or Talagi, i probably lean towards Talagi, mainly due to versatility.
