  • I've heard the same thing, the players all respect ryles. But do they respect the GM ???. BA if I could remember had to make signings himself for star players to come to parra. Fox joined parra because of Ryles and if you heard clearly before his stated he'd love to be an Eel as long as Ryles is there. The problem is definitely from the GM or those in the recruitment team, they are giving of bad vibes because since 2022 all signings have been nothing but duds besides the ones that BA made and Ryles made. Surely someone needs to lose their job at the recruitment or even the GM himself. Funny how we are a strong club in office but with football side of things we suck, it's all about hiring the right people that know how to win exactly similar to what Ryles does. 2026 is off to a shaky start and we're already seen the cracks and it's just round one. R&R not really the brightest kind of people. Why buy Pezet for a year, when you can Cleary build Lorenzo in the NRL to lead into next year. He's that good we cannot hinder the growth, yes cup helps but NRL helps to expose what you can really work on as a player and the fast fundamentals on learning through play first grade. We have talent in our juniors but I'm confident they'll be gone as soon as they get their peak because this is what our recruitment team is good at. Losing our best juniors for other clubs to feeder on, look we need to sack quickly before it gets worse.

    • I've said here before, Lachy loved Ryles. Felt so comfortable even to the point of ringing him to say he's not coming and had a 30min convo.

  • Muttman, I'll answer that, if that's okay.

R&R people will not realise they have a massive problem until, fans / members demand it. That the board then listen to those fans, members. Even right now there are still an enormous amount of "i'll just call them fans for ease of a description" that believe the R&R are doing a great job, and it's just bad luck we are not sigining these players.

I'll say it again, it dosnt need sackings or instability, I'm quite happy for them to educate the R&R on how to get a deal done. That could take numerous forms, that we've discussed previously. It dosnt matter if i think Barnett was worth whatever or that he was too old, what matters that if we trust our coach, he wanted Barnett and the club didn't get it done again.

    • Bluey, I probably wouldn't agree is has anything to do with bad luck, unfortunately. I want to look like Chris Hemsworth with my own Singo-helicopter, but it probably ain't going to happen any time soon.

      • haha, i was being polite and underselling with the bad luck statement. The helicopters, well that really could of been achievable, having a background in choppers going back to the 90's. The club could have offered helicopter transport for Mitch each week from Parramatta to Taree. Cost $3500 - $6000 a trip. Bundle all that up into some type of corporate use for the club and the board with a retainer, a deal for say 10 trips per year, not salary capped but somehow linked with corporate use, that would of cost $35k - $60K. Making Mitch's trips back to Taree every fortnight ish during the season more palatable and easy. The cost in this scenario probably insignificant to the organisation. But wow what a way to travel up the coast to get home and the speed second to none. Not to mention making Barnett feel like a wanted superstar.

        • Good point. How much are the helicopter trips to and fro Brisbane, out of curiosity?

          • By chopper it's 1hr - 1.3hr From Parramatta to Taree flight time.

Brisbane to Taree would be 3.5hrs which would need an extra fuel stop on the way. Depending on how long it would take for a fuel stop / re fueling. Can be done in 15minutes may take 1 hr extra.

Based on that anything from $12,500  to $21,000.

    • What if Ryles brings it up? Arthur surely would have as the failed Smith-Shields signing he was livid.

If Ryles mentions it surely they'll listen if another coach speaks up. Ryles surely has to be livid.

  • Its no coincidence that the news to destabilise the eels came out two days before the Broncos game, and this news today.

  • Barnett spoke in the media about how Brisbane suited him in past weeks. Not shocked he went there at all.

So who did Warriors get in the swap deal? Can't see anyone named at all.

what really irks me is that we've publically stated what that we were willing to trade our by far best prospective outside back and put samrani out there for zilch...so hope it was just media speculation on Samrani!

Get back to keeping quiet Parra that was one of our past  best attributes in a shallow pool of recruitment wins!!
