I really hope we reconsider Lomax as a centre. He can sit up his winger with his ability to offload with multiple players in the tackle. He has that strike to beat a defender with his right foot step and strength. Obviously got to tell him to control and pick his moments for these attacking chances. He also doesn't have the speed on the wing to exploit any half breaks like Khan Peirara could.
Defensively it would help as well. He can get caught in field too much on the wing so centre would help with that. Also similar to attack, he doesn't have the speed to quickly cover breaks on the wing.
Agree BE. And in his last games with us, he becomes a defensive liability by leaving the defensive line but had missed to tackle thus leaving the opposing winger for a try. Unfortunately, Lomax had also done this since he came back from SOO.
Frank that's a good question, I could say that Staggs and Cobb were available just a couple of weeks ago, as was Dane Gaga. The club was either not interested or missed out. Adam Douehi is available right now and can play 5/8 or a ball playing lock as well as centre. Centres off contract in 2026 include Herbie Farnworth, Roger Tuivasa-shock, Jack Bird, Averillo. Now if none of those were of interest to our recruitment gurus then I guess we would be looking for youngsters on the cusp that offer more potential then What we know we get from Bailey. EA is better placed to throw some of these youngsters names up either in house or at other clubs then myself.
On the outside looking in it appears our recruitment is letting us down, however if all these youngsters come off all together, then wholly shit we may get an Eels Dynasty.
It appears we are going the way of Penrith and the Raiders in reallyinvesting in youth and potential, and giving them clear pathways to first grade through our new academy.
Unfortunately outside backs is easily our weakest spot in the junior grades. Richie (20) is there and than Araz Nanva (21) has been having a good year. Alamadine (20) development has stalled this year. The next good outside backs are only 18 and younger.
Our outside backs that won SG ball in 2023 were Richie, Talagi & Alamadine. So we had good ones coming through. RIchie is good. Talagi we all know. Alamadine did not have a pre-season and he started the season very slowly/poorly.

"Everything you have said I wholeheartedly agree with NOS.
It's sad to see him go, and yes, let's hope something is in the pipeline to soften his departure. "

That would be an awesome combo.

Which is a shift as in the BA years we had a lot more better backs in juniors than forwards. It's a nice change but need a balance.
