Josh Addo-Carr cleared in roadside test before Eels meeting
Parramatta winger Josh Addo-Carr’s second result from a roadside drugs test has come back negative, just hours before he is scheduled to front the Eels board about his future.
Addo-Carr allegedly tested positive to cocaine at a random police roadside test in September. However, police on Monday informed him that the second test result provided a result for no drugs, meaning there will be no further action from police.
The development comes amid speculation that Addo-Carr was poised to be sacked at Parramatta headquarters tonight, where he is scheduled to address Eels directors.
With players poised to return to pre-season training, the Eels were keen the matter to a head. To that end, Addo-Carr has been to provide his version of events. Now, it appears that a career that appeared over could resume with the blue and golds.
The premiership-winning winger is a popular member of the club on and off the field. Addo-Carr has scored 27 tries since joining Parramatta last year.
Addo-Carr is expected to be accompanied by lawyer Elias Tabchouri and agent Marcel Tartak when he fronts directors this afternoon. The former Storm star was sacked after providing a positive roadside test while employed at Canterbury over a separate incident.
If Addo-Carr had been guilty of a second incident, it would have resulted in an automatic 12-game suspension.
Addo-Carr, who lost a sponsorship deal with automotive firm JAC, spent about a month in a rehabilitation centre to deal with off-field issues.
The Eels were already making contingency plans. They had been in discussions with Melbourne centre Jack Howarth, but have opted to abandon those negotiations. They have also been linked to Penrith’s Blaize Talagi, but if there is to be any pursuit it will be for 2028 due to his Achilles injury.
Newcastle winger James Schiller is a potential signing for 2027, while Bradman Best and Jack Bostock have been linked to the Eels for the following year.

I am happy for the fox. Happy for him to continue his community work. Happy for next generation to learn from him. He will deliver on the back of Rome and Mitchell and hopefully best.
Im happy for him too.
Can't imagine the club not re- signing him and moving on now (just so long as the club isn't looking at him as fb backup...Im a definite boo to that.
We all prayed for you Josh
Why's the news headlines stating his future is still "uncertain" ? Can't see why it's not "issue solved. Unless Jac was stating he didn't indulge whilst driving...parra now seems like we didn't believe perhaps?
maybe parra should've just waited before scheduling meeting.
The thing is, how is Addo-Carr going to explain why he attended a rehabilitation centre and the honesty behind that as he fronted the board this afternoon.
I don't think he would have admitted anything to the club beforehand, but he would have needed to explain the situation at the board meeting., and if in anyway find that he was being dishonest, there may be further internal action.
The NRL wont act, as its now an internal issue, but Parramatta may have to explain the situation .
I don't think this is over, although now you would think he is staying
He had his lawyer with him at the meeting and he would have advised Josh the best way to handle it
Let's face it, Josh attended rehabilitation to get a favourable look and to save himself. Im not sure how he's going to explain this and how Parramatta will handle it with the press release.
Now its all about honesty and how Parramatta perceive the situation
i have it on good authority as the board now chattin about it over a few shandies and prawn cocktails, they will issue a fine, somewhere around 25k, not sacking him. Ryles came into bat for him, pulled his shiny marbles out from his dacks and placed them on the table and said cut em off is this dope offends again
But what would the fine be for?
actually the sponsor who dropped him first day afterwards maybe ought to have kept their powder dry too.
Why would they fine him anything, what has he done wrong other than admit himself into rehab, did not the Parramatta club issue a statement saying they were concerned about his welfare and as such see that he has the best medicine?
So you are saying that after admitting himself for rehab that involved everything that has gone wrong in his life, Parra will fine him 25k for being responsible to admit himself?
Hello!!......wait for a minute I looked up Make Parra Great Again and looked for his occupation.....Influencer to the Stars!
How is he going to explain the rehabilitation visit? This could make or break it
Hold on isn't his self admission to a rehabilitation centre an admission of guilt. How is he going to explain that one genius??
