Josh Addo-Carr cleared in roadside test before Eels meeting

Parramatta winger Josh Addo-Carr’s second result from a roadside drugs test has come back negative, just hours before he is scheduled to front the Eels board about his future.

Addo-Carr allegedly tested positive to cocaine at a random police roadside test in September. However, police on Monday informed him that the second test result provided a result for no drugs, meaning there will be no further action from police.

The development comes amid speculation that Addo-Carr was poised to be sacked at Parramatta headquarters tonight, where he is scheduled to address Eels directors.

With players poised to return to pre-season training, the Eels were keen the matter to a head. To that end, Addo-Carr has been to provide his version of events. Now, it appears that a career that appeared over could resume with the blue and golds.

The premiership-winning winger is a popular member of the club on and off the field. Addo-Carr has scored 27 tries since joining Parramatta last year.

Addo-Carr is expected to be accompanied by lawyer Elias Tabchouri and agent Marcel Tartak when he fronts directors this afternoon. The former Storm star was sacked after providing a positive roadside test while employed at Canterbury over a separate incident.

If Addo-Carr had been guilty of a second incident, it would have resulted in an automatic 12-game suspension.

Addo-Carr, who lost a sponsorship deal with automotive firm JAC, spent about a month in a rehabilitation centre to deal with off-field issues.

The Eels were already making contingency plans. They had been in discussions with Melbourne centre Jack Howarth, but have opted to abandon those negotiations. They have also been linked to Penrith’s Blaize Talagi, but if there is to be any pursuit it will be for 2028 due to his Achilles injury.

Newcastle winger James Schiller is a potential signing for 2027, while Bradman Best and Jack Bostock have been linked to the Eels for the following year.

    Make him captain  !

  • Lol JAC needs to be buying some lottery tickets because he must have been riiiiiight on the threshold of it being confirmed as a positive result.

Still, don't hate the player, hate the game. If the B Sample is clear then there's nothing for him to answer to.

Now JAC needs to go have some stern words with his dealer because that must have been some low grade bicarb that he snorted for it to clear his system. And he went to rehab and issued apologies for nothing!

Let's focus the attention on the person who is really in the wrong here - JACs dodgy dealer who clearly ripped him off.

    • Yes I feel he may have got super lucky. The odds of the false positive is even less odds than a false negative. It's super low.

As you say , the timeframe between tests at the roadside can be up to half an hour . My guess is he got super lucky in between. Even he thought he was gone.

Good result for him and the squad.  Wonder if this will result is us retracting from pursuing Best or Bostock . Not having 600+K makes a difference to the budget.

As for his dealer , I know a young guy from a local footy club who got pulled up at the airport with a few 8 balls  going to a footy trip away on the Goldy , only to find out in court his stuff only tested at around 8% cocaine lol.  The rest was made up of over the counter and prescription drugs 😂😂.  He says he ensured he got his money back off his dealer to help pay his court costs.  It's a story he'll never live down as the lads he planned to offload it to were also stunned to find out what he was packing for them to buy .  The debates always been who was the cutting culprit.  I reckon old mate jumped on it to pay for his trip 😂😂

      • 400k alledgedly....and you don't know!!!

        • I know odds. And official odds say it's more likely than it's not. Are you disputing your overlord Daz's scientific odds ?  , I'd like to hear his thoughts on this testing being wrong as he is very pro science being correct .

Can we have an apprentace  professors opinion here ?  Ploppa thinks the science and probabilities are wrong ? I invite you to set him straight base on the study .

Bit tough , Having to pick between the science or politics 😂

          • Not so tough Wizard, nothing as tough as what JAC has gone through.....with regards to Daz, my overlord you call him LOL.... the fact he is a scientist and twice as smart as both of us would have him explaining to you that every scientist is open minded until the proven otherwise....that is what science is, its not a lottery with a one only winner but a series of events that change the result when a better science is established.

I suggest you start watching STAR TALK with Neil de Grasse Tyson to learn a little bit more about what you know fcuk all about.

PS You know odds, whose going to win the Cup tomorrow.....smart arse you know odds, come up with the answer......I will give you a scientific approach....i.e. 24 horses, probably one winner, but there are other possibilities.

          • Why are you coping so hard that the Fox is innocent? He was cleared as there is ZERO evidence. Are you trying to come off as a deadhead? If so, it's working.

"Was going to say the same Poppa. If he professed his innocence, and the 'B' sample come back positive, he would have been stereotyped as your usual druggo, and next to no chance of getting back to the NRL. "
