Josh Addo-Carr cleared in roadside test before Eels meeting

Parramatta winger Josh Addo-Carr’s second result from a roadside drugs test has come back negative, just hours before he is scheduled to front the Eels board about his future.

Addo-Carr allegedly tested positive to cocaine at a random police roadside test in September. However, police on Monday informed him that the second test result provided a result for no drugs, meaning there will be no further action from police.

The development comes amid speculation that Addo-Carr was poised to be sacked at Parramatta headquarters tonight, where he is scheduled to address Eels directors.

With players poised to return to pre-season training, the Eels were keen the matter to a head. To that end, Addo-Carr has been to provide his version of events. Now, it appears that a career that appeared over could resume with the blue and golds.

The premiership-winning winger is a popular member of the club on and off the field. Addo-Carr has scored 27 tries since joining Parramatta last year.

Addo-Carr is expected to be accompanied by lawyer Elias Tabchouri and agent Marcel Tartak when he fronts directors this afternoon. The former Storm star was sacked after providing a positive roadside test while employed at Canterbury over a separate incident.

If Addo-Carr had been guilty of a second incident, it would have resulted in an automatic 12-game suspension.

Addo-Carr, who lost a sponsorship deal with automotive firm JAC, spent about a month in a rehabilitation centre to deal with off-field issues.

The Eels were already making contingency plans. They had been in discussions with Melbourne centre Jack Howarth, but have opted to abandon those negotiations. They have also been linked to Penrith’s Blaize Talagi, but if there is to be any pursuit it will be for 2028 due to his Achilles injury.

Newcastle winger James Schiller is a potential signing for 2027, while Bradman Best and Jack Bostock have been linked to the Eels for the following year.

        • It was a Chinese car mob called JAC motors or some crap like that by memory. Good luck convincing the world to not buy their cars because one Eels player was dumped by them after checking himself into rehab for cocaine use , ya Wally 😂😂.

Im sure they're falling over themselves now trying to source the best public image consultants money can buy to save their arses from a global meltdown on the back of this drongos dumping.

          • Does that mean you believe JAC is a drongo? sounds like descrimination .....what colour is a Drongo.....asking for a friend?

      • Fair enough. Cops were doing their job and if it was positive on the night, they did their due diligence sending it to the lab. So technically didn't do anything wrong.

        • They participated in a known flawed  and corrupt process. They should have charged him with use of a prohibited substance if they thought they were doing the right thing.

Fuck the police state and the woke moral warriors that prop them up. :P

    • He should. They made false claims based on a flawed testing the regime  and he lost a sponsor.

      Lets Trot!

  • This is great news on a few different levels.

    1. Most importantly, it's good news for Josh: He's been vindicated for any wrong-doing and gets to finish off the stellar career he deserves. I am so happy for this guy, not just becasue he's a Parra player, but because he's a good human that does a lot of good things for kids doing it tough in the community. For him, his family, and his career, it's sensational news.

    2. For the Club: I was resigned to having to lose him as we couldn't keep him after a second indescretion and losing 12 games from suspension, but now we have our specialist winger back and our stocks are looking much better with him in 1st grade.

    3. For the good of NRL: It would have been a terrible headline when we should be focusing on the final series of the World Cup, but this is a good news story that gives one of our great players an ending he deserves from a great career.

What an amazing result, and truly a good lesson for everyone that we're innocent until proven guilty, something I admittedly already judged on before this news.

Welcome back Josh, I'm glad you're here.

    • It is good for us as we have a good Winger, with the market being very sparce of decent Wingers.

  • Rush makes things happen,  now he's made the fox cleaner than a Taiwanese  microchip factory lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Wow, how lucky is the fox.

There's only two possible scenarios if the a sample showed a positive and the b negative.

One scenario is that the body has so little trace that by the time the second sample was taken ( i gather later that evening), that the body had deleted that trace over time.

The second scenario is that the A sample was a false negative.

Now the issue here is that the fox voluntarily went to rehabilitation.  Now if the a sample was a false positive he probably wouldn't have gone into rehabilitation

Now Well lets celebrate because its great news for the fox and Parramatta.   What do we do with Schiller now lol.  Maybe replace Samrani with him.  Id still go for him.

Fox is back baby - or is this April 1 ????

  • “I can confirm that Josh Addo-Carr and my office have been contacted by NSW Police,” Tabchouri said. “The police have confirmed the drug test carried out on Josh on September 11, 2026 has returned a result of nil drugs detected.

“Josh has always maintained – and still maintains – a commitment to the Parramatta club.”

Asked if he expected Addo-Carr to remain employed by the Eels, Tabchouri said: “That’s a matter for the Parramatta Eels. But noting the negative result, we reiterate that he remains committed to the club.”

"They won't, unless he's admitted he's a regular user of cocaine during the season hence his rehab visit. Then they can do as they wish.  My guess is there will be zero further action. But it's not written in stone the clubs hands are tied . "
