Josh Addo-Carr cleared in roadside test before Eels meeting

Parramatta winger Josh Addo-Carr’s second result from a roadside drugs test has come back negative, just hours before he is scheduled to front the Eels board about his future.

Addo-Carr allegedly tested positive to cocaine at a random police roadside test in September. However, police on Monday informed him that the second test result provided a result for no drugs, meaning there will be no further action from police.

The development comes amid speculation that Addo-Carr was poised to be sacked at Parramatta headquarters tonight, where he is scheduled to address Eels directors.

With players poised to return to pre-season training, the Eels were keen the matter to a head. To that end, Addo-Carr has been to provide his version of events. Now, it appears that a career that appeared over could resume with the blue and golds.

The premiership-winning winger is a popular member of the club on and off the field. Addo-Carr has scored 27 tries since joining Parramatta last year.

Addo-Carr is expected to be accompanied by lawyer Elias Tabchouri and agent Marcel Tartak when he fronts directors this afternoon. The former Storm star was sacked after providing a positive roadside test while employed at Canterbury over a separate incident.

If Addo-Carr had been guilty of a second incident, it would have resulted in an automatic 12-game suspension.

Addo-Carr, who lost a sponsorship deal with automotive firm JAC, spent about a month in a rehabilitation centre to deal with off-field issues.

The Eels were already making contingency plans. They had been in discussions with Melbourne centre Jack Howarth, but have opted to abandon those negotiations. They have also been linked to Penrith’s Blaize Talagi, but if there is to be any pursuit it will be for 2028 due to his Achilles injury.

Newcastle winger James Schiller is a potential signing for 2027, while Bradman Best and Jack Bostock have been linked to the Eels for the following year.

        • As I said all along  , from a fans perspective and talent , I would be happy to have it swept under the carpet.

The fact he checked himself into rehab confirms the only thing at play here is he got very lucky. If the roadside was wrong he'd have stood staunch that he was innocent.

Hopefully this is a lesson he finally learns , and doesn't see it as another example he can do as he pleases and get away with it.

Whilst you're looking at me , take note , I'm the guy who wants more accountability of our club, and players. You could learn a thing or two.

          • Your a fcuking MARVEL Wiz, you should be in comics......the guy who wants more accountability has had his hands in so many mud pies they call him 4 and 20.

You can't catch a plane to Kellyville because you live so far away, but no hesitation in telling people about living in the district and the long drive from Kellyville to Parramatta Stadium......accountability.....have you seen what the club has gone through since 2015 and you want more accountability.....you live in a glass house with the rest of the NRL clubs....wakey wakey....we have had enough of this shit!

            • This is the guy who campaigned to not sack Sambow after he stole a sponsors car and dumped it pissed on the way to a game.

Yeah , I'm quite comfortable with my stance that we'd have to sack JAC should he return a positive test for driving on drugs the second time.

I'll wear my wowser badge of honour for wanting better than sex offenders car thieves and habitual drug drivers .  I think we come from different upbringings maybe. Or years of profiteering from these types may have clouded your judgment.

I bet you also had no issues with Hayne when he visited the school to talk about Cyber secirty with school kids and accidently steamed porn onto to screen 😂😂

Im sorry that I wish for a tightly ran organisation with bugger all scandals where players respect the privilege they have being involved.  You'd have a 1980s pub league set up given the chance.

      • Fair point Analyst, maybe.

    • Hopefully it's all good for his sake but this is very strange.

    • It actually is Gucci. MON gave the cops some woolies discounts with cost of living haha.

    • No he took the advice of his  management team. Now its time to make an example of the police and sue for reputational damage and loss of income from their bullshit testing system.

      27 is back on.

      Lets Trot!

      • lol,  so the police run the test , which tests positive , then send the second sample away for further testing to ensure it's correct , they then release this information stating the second test will confirm the first test was correct.  Josh's team then put him into rehab confirming his drug problems are legit.

Which part have the police done the wrong thing ?  Maybe you need to focus on the people who built the testing process . The scientists who brought us Covid lockdowns and jabs  😂.

Id like to see a self admitting drug user sue the cops for highlighting his drug use . What's next , drive around unregistered telling the police he's " traveling " and not driving , and he doesn't acknowledge their ABN or authority .

        • B test was negative, never drove under the influence despite what you woke moral warriors think :P

          • The police folllwed the process the law states . I'm still not sure where they are open to be sued ?

And this is coming from a bloke who had to attend court earlier this year after a Hwy patrol " estimated " my speed as 30+ over .  Then called me the day before court to advise he's sorry but he's now accepted my letter of appeal ( which they'd rejected earlier when I wrote away ). I still had to front court , pay a solicitor , pay court costs , take a day off work , etc, all to have the judge say " oh Mr Wizard , I can see the officer has accepted your plea to have this downgraded due to the fact he didn't actualy get you on the radar " dismissed.

Even for me to get my court costs back I'd have to open a civil case and would likely lose going by my advice.

so yeah mate , I'm not exactly pro police when it comes to traffic matters, but here , they did zero wrong.  That doesn't mean I agree with their testing methods. But that is on science.

"They won't, unless he's admitted he's a regular user of cocaine during the season hence his rehab visit. Then they can do as they wish.  My guess is there will be zero further action. But it's not written in stone the clubs hands are tied . "
