Josh Addo-Carr cleared in roadside test before Eels meeting
Parramatta winger Josh Addo-Carr’s second result from a roadside drugs test has come back negative, just hours before he is scheduled to front the Eels board about his future.
Addo-Carr allegedly tested positive to cocaine at a random police roadside test in September. However, police on Monday informed him that the second test result provided a result for no drugs, meaning there will be no further action from police.
The development comes amid speculation that Addo-Carr was poised to be sacked at Parramatta headquarters tonight, where he is scheduled to address Eels directors.
With players poised to return to pre-season training, the Eels were keen the matter to a head. To that end, Addo-Carr has been to provide his version of events. Now, it appears that a career that appeared over could resume with the blue and golds.
The premiership-winning winger is a popular member of the club on and off the field. Addo-Carr has scored 27 tries since joining Parramatta last year.
Addo-Carr is expected to be accompanied by lawyer Elias Tabchouri and agent Marcel Tartak when he fronts directors this afternoon. The former Storm star was sacked after providing a positive roadside test while employed at Canterbury over a separate incident.
If Addo-Carr had been guilty of a second incident, it would have resulted in an automatic 12-game suspension.
Addo-Carr, who lost a sponsorship deal with automotive firm JAC, spent about a month in a rehabilitation centre to deal with off-field issues.
The Eels were already making contingency plans. They had been in discussions with Melbourne centre Jack Howarth, but have opted to abandon those negotiations. They have also been linked to Penrith’s Blaize Talagi, but if there is to be any pursuit it will be for 2028 due to his Achilles injury.
Newcastle winger James Schiller is a potential signing for 2027, while Bradman Best and Jack Bostock have been linked to the Eels for the following year.

I've heard of this happening too.
Amazing, free for Round 1. Schiller now is just added depth.
I do have a question, more likely no but could he sue for damages as he missed a WC due to this?
I did some research on this very thing LB, not just the WC but lost a major sponser. He cannot sue the NSW police due to them having statutory immunities. But the false allegation has significantly impacted his income. Sad but not sure what else can be done.
Maybe we should publicise the sponsor that knee jerked and have some wise man ask the question are they going to reinstate his sponsorship?
If they did I guarantee it will be worth more to the value of their sponsorship than they could imagine, admitting your wrong and apologising vests a lot of public sympathy.....
It was a Chinese car mob called JAC motors or some crap like that by memory. Good luck convincing the world to not buy their cars because one Eels player was dumped by them after checking himself into rehab for cocaine use , ya Wally 😂😂.
Im sure they're falling over themselves now trying to source the best public image consultants money can buy to save their arses from a global meltdown on the back of this drongos dumping.
Fair enough. Cops were doing their job and if it was positive on the night, they did their due diligence sending it to the lab. So technically didn't do anything wrong.
They participated in a known flawed and corrupt process. They should have charged him with use of a prohibited substance if they thought they were doing the right thing.
Fuck the police state and the woke moral warriors that prop them up. :P
He should. They made false claims based on a flawed testing the regime and he lost a sponsor.
Lets Trot!
This is great news on a few different levels.
What an amazing result, and truly a good lesson for everyone that we're innocent until proven guilty, something I admittedly already judged on before this news.
Welcome back Josh, I'm glad you're here.
It is good for us as we have a good Winger, with the market being very sparce of decent Wingers.
