Araz Nanva signs Top 30 Contract for 2027

The Parramatta Eels are pleased to announce that emerging outside back Araz Nanva has extended his contract with the club for a further year and will be elevated to the Top 30 squad for the 2027 NRL season.

An Eels junior, Nanva’s extension comes on the back of a strong pre-season and his NRL debut last week.

Parramatta Eels GM of Football Mark O'Neill praised Nanva’s development and dedication.

“Araz has worked hard during the pre-season with his attitude and performance and bought in to the Club culture.

“To make his debut in Round 6 was a well-deserved reward, and we’re excited to see how he continues to develop. He’s a talented outside back who understands what it means to represent this club, and we’re pleased to have him locked in for 2027 as part of our Top 30.”

The Eels look forward to supporting Nanva’s continued development as he establishes himself at NRL level.

    • Volkman and Pryke also I reckon

    • I can see De Belin staying on an NSW cup contract and be backup to NRL. At least that what I would go for.

Paulo and D Walker 1 year IMO. Same for Pryke and Volkman.

Mataele I'd let go just because we have other forwards I rate more.

      Tago, Tuilagi should go.

Richie depends on rest of the season. If he stays injury free, he will show his quality and be a contender for first grade next year IMO. But tbh if he's OK with NSW cup for another year I'd still keep him.

    • Thanks for listing this out.
Leaving R Pensini, Tuilagi, Tago and JDB out of that list (and asuming deals with the other off contract player get done) we'd have 27 spots filled, 28 if they're considering next year is the year Lorenzo starts his FG career.

      Spine
Iongi, Moses, Da Silva, Smith, Papalii, Volkman, Lorenzo

      Backs
W Penisni, Simonsson, Samrani, Ado Carr, Kelly, Nanva

      Forwards
Sua, Guymer, T Brown, Hopgood, Williams, Moretti, Tuivita, Kautoga, Doorey, Funa-Iuta, Latu, Pryke, Mataele. D Walker, Paulo

In my view the club needs to prioritise signing a couple more outside backs.
It would be good if at least one was a high quality player. Looking at whose available in 2027, 2 jump out as being the sort of players we need, Avarilo and Milky Jenkins.
I'd be happy to see the club put in big offers to either or both of those players.

It would also be interesting to find out a bit more about Jesse Mclaen and Izac Tago. Panthers may be willing to release one of these guys.

  • Good news, well done Parra, looked very confortable in first grade.

  • He had shown a very good work rate in the 2 FG games. Good for the club to retain him.

  • I find the one year extension interesting given his age. Wonder if the club only offered 1 year or if Nanva's side only wanted 1 year.

    • My thoughts exactly, I wonder if he is hoping to improve his stock before hitting free agency after nov 1 for the 2028 season.

      • Reckon you'd be right.

        • I didn't copy Macy lol

          • Hopefully Araz gets to work with JAC and build confidence. Honestly believe JAC has helped Russell's game jump to next level.

reckon JR will give him lots of opportunities this year with players moving on, and now that he is contracted no pesky ' no chatting' dogs sniffing around ready to swoop.

            copy me? Haha never...

"Great news if it works for Koina. Any outside backs you think you can cash your ticket on? Sounds like we almost have too many forward prospects. I suppose the cream will rise if there's lots of competition "
