  • The only ones linking TDS with Parra were the media.

    • We definitely had a crack at him but mostly linked to us due to cap space really, we aren't desperate for a 9 yet.

    • So you are saying we weren't really interested? I mean you do have more insight than us into the club Super.

    • Super isnt that the way fans in the main, get 99.9%of their information, insight and knowledge.Professional mainstream  Reporters are paid very well to possess informants, sources and club types with information. They make the phone calls and do the leg work to obtain that information and pass it onto fans.

Where else would the linking be discussed in public other then the media.Im not sure it should be dismissed out of hand because "it's only the media making the link"

It is becomming louder - that the club may have to address their shortcoming in signing in demand talent sooner rather then later, instead of attempting to gloss over whom they have targeted and hide the fact they missed out on another player.

The time is getter nearer where the club need to become transparent on whom they have targeted and lost. Clear the air, investigate their mistakes on why it's happening with regularity and be up front. Show they are working on remedying the problem. This way an open and transparent leadership of our member based Eels club can be embraced and systems and processes "negotiating, closing, list management, scouting" can be improved. We all want the same thing, a winning team.

      • Having been in the media, some journos are well informed. Others less so. Then you have the motivations of player managers and clubs. A manager may reach out to a club to gauge their interest in a player. That manager can then use that discussion to say "we have had discussions with a number of clubs" as a way to generate interest.

Clubs, as we've seen with Gus, will say and do whatever they feel gives them an edge. Whether that's publicly denying interest or leaking to media that they have interest.

In TDS' case it's his manager saying he "has 5 clubs who have expressed an interest". From there the media has said Parramatta, Newcastle and Manly have been involved. Given his manager and TDS himself benefits from the discussions of 5 clubs, it's unclear how involved the Eels have been. We are in the market for another hooker, that's true. Whether we truly threw our hat in the ring for TDS is unclear.

As we've seen as well, some of the speculation is driven by guys on Facebook with a few thousand followers posting random rumours as fact.

We've even had rumours on this site picked up and reported as fact by NRL journos.

        • All good points.

I'm concerned then that if the club hasn't been interested in talented players that fit our requirements,  the big question is - why not!

It feels to the normal run of the mill fan, that the club can't sign a talented in demand player, however if we arnt even attempting to sign talented in demand players then i'm wondering what they are doing with the marque dollars saved. I'm not sure which is worse, not interested, or failing to land them.

          • I don't know whether we've truly gone after TDS and missed. The club has shown it acts quickly when it finds a player that fits our requirements.

            • Yeah, we moved ultra fast to sign the likes of Harper, Momoisea, Murchie, Doorey and De Belin.

  • Naustrodoumas predictions lol.  Why is everyone falling for this post lol. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    • He is as trusted of a source as the Mole dope
