If you've been living under a rock for the past 2-3 days, then this will be news to you. South African batsman, A.B. De Villiers crunched an unbelievable 149 runs off 44 deliveries against the West Indies in a recent ODI at Highveld. To put that in perspective, that's 3.8 runs per ball. If he were to have faced a full 50 overs, he'd have scored more than 1,000 runs.
Some of his shots were just utterly ridiculous. Falling over to the off side, on one knee, he flicked fast bowlers for six over square leg. He simply can't be human the way he did that. During his innings, he broke the record for both the fastest half century and century in ODI cricket. He faced just 3 dot balls. Watch the unbelievable innings below. All 44 balls of it.

Records AB broke/equalled:
Fastest ODI fifty.
Fastest ODI ton.
Most sixes by a South African in an ODI innings.
Equal most sixes by any batsman in an innings.
He had a strike rate of 339, the highest for a knock of 50+ runs and the first time ever a batsman has made a score of 100+ with a strike rate of over 300.
Not to mention, it was the first time in history that three batsmen scored an ODI century in the same innings and it was South Africa's highest score in Tests and the second highest ever.
Only Sri Lanka had more with 443.
And, just some other cricket stats on De Villiers; he is the only player ever to have an average of 50+ in ODI's Tests, first-class cricket & List A games.
He's also the only batsman to come in after the 30th over and score a century in an ODI innings. Twice!
Not to mention he's a South African musician - pretty talented one as well.
He's won awards and been recognised for accomplishments in tennis, hockey, swimming and athletics.
The guy is a naturally gifted athlete.
Unbelievable stuff, reminds me of myself back in my schoolboy days.
When de Villiers came in, Amla was on 114 when he got out on 149, Amla was on 153.. Also in that last 12 overs they scored almost 200 runs.
He came in in the 39th over and departed in the 49th. He is in a class of his own in the world of cricket at the moment.
You can say that again, Frank.
I've seen some great innings over the years in all formats but AB's was easily the best, the classiest and the most entertaining.
And to think that after a score like that, he was disappointed in himself that he faced 3 dot balls!
