St George Illawarra have signed Parramatta Eels front-rower Daniel Alvaro for the next two seasons, until at least the end of the 2022 NRL Telstra Premiership season.
The Italian international made his first grade debut in 2015 and has played 95 NRL games to date, including a six-game loan spell at the New Zealand Warriors last season.
The Mittagong Lions junior also won the Ken Thornett Medal as the Eels' Player of the Year in 2018.
Three spots now remain in the Dragons' Top 30 for the 2021 NRL Telstra Premiership season following the signing of the former Country Origin representative Alvaro.
"Daniel has shown his competitiveness and capabilities as a first grade player over the past six years and we're excited to see how he complements our squad," General manager of football Ben Haran said.
"Head coach Anthony Griffin oversaw Daniel's development in the Under-20s during their time at the Brisbane Broncos together.
"Their long-standing relationship can only be a positive and will certainly help Daniel settle into his new surroundings over the remainder of our pre-season."
Alvaro's arrival follows the signing of Jack Bird and Poasa Faamausili and the retention of Mat and Max Feagai, Josh Kerr, Jackson Ford, Mikaele Ravalawa, Adam Clune, Junior Amone and Tyrell Sloan ahead of the Dragons' 2021 campaign.
"Its encouraging to see we have IEE's top thinkers on solving this problem.
At this stage we have Mutts and Bluey on here that are over 30 and have an IQ higher than 110
You may get to a 110 if you combine Randolph and Wiz,
For all you guys under 30,…"

Alvaro is a great person and has a level head on his shoulders and I wish him nothing but the best!
The recent rule changes have nulified Alvaro's skillset, so offloading him is the absolute right thing to do for the team. Well maneuvered!!!!
Agree Captain, Alvaro seemed like a nice guy that gave his all.
Shame it couldn't work out for him here.
Only a guess Mick, but I'm guessing Payten has bigger testicles.
I think Payten will prove his a little smarter then BA when it comes to getting the best out of players.
Good luch Alvaro.
No real loss as he was one of the slowest props I have ever seen.
The writing was on the wall once Hollis and Hughes were elevated to the top squad.
Thanks for your contribution to the team Daniel.
How much was he on, and who can we recruit!
Thats the big question. We possibly have $400 000 to spend.
Hopefully we spend it on a decent centre
