Dyldam Parramatta Eels forward Daniel Alvaro has this week been named in the NSWRL.com.au Intrust Super Premiership NSW Team of the Week, as one of the best-performers on the field in Round Four, his second appearance in the team after the opening four rounds.Alvaro featured heavily in the Wentworthville Magpies 22-14 loss to the premiers, the Newcastle Knights, and whilst pleased with his form, the forward was more focused on the improvements he could make in his game.“I am pretty happy with my form at the moment, but there are still plenty of areas to improve and it would have been nice to get the win,” Alvaro said.“It was definitely a game we should of won, but we let it get away from us at the end and we should have been better than that.”Alvaro’s effort on the field gained praise from Wentworthville Magpies Head Coach Joey Grima, saying his consistent performances would continue to put pressure on the other Blue and Gold forwards.Alvaro came away with 216m in his 21 carries to go alongside his mammoth 50 tackle effort on the weekend. It was the first time a player has cracked the half-century in this year’s Intrust Super Premiership NSW.“Daniel Alvaro’s numbers speak for themselves. The quality of his offensive and defence, makes him an NRL player, week in week out,” Grima said.“My role as the Intrust Super Premiership NSW Head Coach is to encourage and provide the tools and environment to these players to play their best and put pressure on Brad to select them moving forward, and that’s what Daniel Alvaro has done.”“Week in, week out, he continues to put pressure on the NRL players which makes the whole club a more beneficial one.”And whilst Grima has spoken highly of the forward, Alvaro has his sights solely on this weekend’s clash against the New Zealand Warriors.“I just have to keep playing well and we will see what happens,” Alvaro said when asked of expectations of returning to the NRL side to add to his eight first grade appearances.“I haven’t really got any expectations, I will just continue to do my best and end up where I end up.”“The Warriors are always pretty strong and I am sure it will be a real tough game on the weekend.” Alvaro added. The Wentworthville Magpies take on the New Zealand Warriors at Ringrose Park on Sunday 3 April, kick off at 1pm. • I reckon he will be in the 17 this weekend
  • Good on him, if he keep this up BA won't have too much choice but to include him in the 1st grade team but he needs to be consistant

  • Your probably spot on mate

  • good up and comer... I hope we can blood him a little more this year and give him some more game time. Not sure how long his contracted for but his definitely 1st grade standard and future regular in BA'S lineup

  • Good replacement for Mannah if Timmy is out
But not a replacement for Paulo next year unfortunately
  • I rate him. It's only a matter of time until he is consistently in the top 17 each week.

  • 216m gained in 21 carries puts him at an average of more than 10m every run. I'd take that everyday if I was a coach especially if I need someone to ruck us out of trouble.
  • Great numbers from the Polar Bear!
  • Give him a year or two to mature and he will be a Ranga beast!
  • "Intrust Super Premiership NSW Head Coach..."
    Did he seriously say that?
That would have to be the longest job title in the world!

"Considering the straight bat the Eels have played so far in this saga, I'd be amazed if we wouldn't just turn around and use that as another example of how the NRL are trying to manipulate their preferred outcome in bad faith."
