Does anyone else think that the current allstars match needs looking at? Indigenous vs allstars is a bad concept in my opinion. I mean what happens when Thurston, Inglis, Hodges etc retire in a few years time, will the Indigneous side actually be competititve. As it is they had reserve graders in their side this year. I also think considering we have so many pacific islanders and maoris playing the game its a little silly to have only australian indigenous players.
My solution to this would be more of a format like they have in the states where it is location based. That is have Sydney Allstars vs Non Sydney Allstars. It would even out to 8 teams each if you included Dragons as out of Sydney, being St G - Illawarra and all, so the matchup of teams would look like this ----
Sydney AS Non Sydney AS
Parra Storm
Tigers Broncos
Penrith Titans
Sharks Cowboys
Roosters Raiders
Bunnies Warriors
Manly Dragons
Bulldogs Knights
Not only would this make a better match but it would allow NZers to play as well. While we are at it I say scrap this idea that every team has to have a player in the side. Once again, like the US system whoever gets voted in plays. Can you imagine the teams ----
Syd AS Non Syd AS
1. Inglis 1. Slater
2. Hayne 2. Vatuvai
3. Jennings 3. Hurrell / Idris
4. J Morris 4. Hodges
5. Tuavasa - Sheck / Inu 5. Ferguson
6. Foran 6. Thurston
7. Reynolds 7. Cronk
8. Woods 8. Scott
9. Farah 9. Smith
10. Graham 10. Hannant
11. S Burgess 11. Myles
12. SBW 12. Mateo
13. Gallen 13. Merrin
14. Luke 14. Hilder
15. Grant 15. Matulino
16.Kasiano 16. Shillington
17.Warea Hargreaves 17. T Sims
Coach: Michael McGuire Coach: Wayne Bennett
How awesome would that match be???

I like the concept but the 9s comp will be on next year and there talking the start of the year, which i think will kill any idea of the allstars concept.
Indigenous v Maoris would be more interesting.
