That said, I completely concur with your proposed dealing with JAC. The Bulldogs had a salary cap issue (as they always do) and used JAC's misdemeanour (because that's what it was) as an excuse to offboard a player who was not justifying the enormous salary that useless Goose Gould signed him.
He's not on anywhere near that money with us and is a required player. So I think your proposal to assist JAC in rehabilitaion works in two ways - one, we keep a required player, two we demonstrate to the league that we're a home for players who need a little TLC.
As a lawyer, I see the consumption of cocaine very regularly. Personally, I've never tried it. I've wanted to, and I can easily afford it, but my wife has told me "absolutely not". I've seen colleagues on it at every single law function I've attended. It's insanely prevalent within mainstream society and up here on the Gold Coast, after dark, it might as well be as available as sugar at your local pancake place so I see no reason for our club to kick an "own goal" and sack a required player for a misdemeanour.
If Ezra Mam can keep his position with the Broncs after his DUI and injury to other drivers, it would be hypocritical of the NRL to deregister him. At least there is a precedent.

Sure Ezra was lucky not to be sacked and given a second chance, but if he ever got busted again he'll be sacked. Also, he was 21 - 22 when the incident happened. Addo-Carr at 31 has way more life experience to understand driving under the influence is not just dumb and dangerous, it would probably cost him his career and his income.
He knows that an English club will pick him up.

Yeah he should know better, but dont forget Ezra had the off season Bali incident too. He should have known better as well. Im just saying that there would be a case against a NRL termination if the club decided he is worth defending.
I heard on one of the morning talkback shows this morning that they are awaiting the result of his second test and that the roadside test was positive. Whether it was contact testing or an actual swab test, who knows. No idea how accurate that is, just sharing what I heard.
I would guess if he admits he has a problem and seeks help, he might keep his contract, whereas if he continues to deny it like he did at the Bulldogs, then see ya later

Jesh mate, im just hoping there's an 0.01% chance the second blood test comes back negative. Not just because he's an eel, but because he's always been a passionate player and has a young family also.
I know id never do it now , i rarely have more than one drink nowadays at the most two, but in my late 20s, id always say i would never drink more than a couple before driving, but after 4 or 5, you think you're invincible. That's maybe what has happened to Josh.
Don't be sorry for him because he has a young family. He should have thought of that. There are plenty of other ways he can earn an income. He doesn't have to earn it only from an NRL career. If I had done what he has done (multiple times), I'm getting sacked. Me having a young family to support would not be considered at all.
Yes mate he has to face the consequences. He has a privileged position in the game and earns 10 x more than the average person. Its about time these players respect it
