A more important question...who's our number 9?

Letting Peats go and deciding to play for points was one of the worst decisions we made last year, but there's no point crying over spilt milk.

Talking about who our no. 6 will be is a little futile because in my opinion it's not a major concern because we do have a bunch of options for halves (Norman, Guth, Fog, Robbo?, Hunt?).

I think our major concern should be finding a no. 9.

IDG gets the job done but nothing more than that. His attack is, in my opinion, quite limited and his only saving grace is his solid defence. Kaysa is a solid little player and seems explosive off the bench but, like IDG, I can only see him as a suitable no.14.

I really think Parra need a solid hooker. I think that's where our recruiting attention and money needs to be directed. I think finding a good hooker will also greatly improve our attack (after reading the recent stats blog, it seems we need improvement there).

So, who could parra possibly get for no.9? Do some people legitimately think Ben Hunt could be the answer to our no.9 problem? Doesn't his poor defence worry you?

What do you guys think?

P.S. After lurking the forum for a year, this is my first post...be gentle xoxo

  • Just get Seggy and we are good to go.
Don't buy the seggy is a bad influence on normz thing st alll. Normz is a big boy on mega bucks, if he hasn't learned his lesson from last year he never will.
I think he will have learned.
    • Don't think he's an option, he's only just signed a 2 year deal with Leeds in the SL

    • Think I read seggy has a get out clause if he can get a deal in nrl though.
  • In hindsight yes playing for points was wrong but what coach is going to tell their players he is going to end their season prematurely because he doesn't think they will win enough games. This is actually why I love Brad, the odds were stacked against the team no doubt, the fans gave up in the team but he didn't and neither did the players, and this is the exact attitude fans have wanted for a long time and we got it, only this time the fans were the ones who gave up early and not the team.
    • Snoochie this is a very good response. BA was in a no win situation. He either keeps Peats and ends the season or he lets him go to enable the team to keep competing. Whether or not he was going to be resigned for 2017 depends on who you listen to. This decision by BA was indicative of his competitive nature and was the only decision he could have made.

  • Damian Cook 2018

  • It will be IDG but don't rule out Robbi
  • Agree mate, I am starting to think that hooker is the only position where we appear to have any sort of weakness. The problem is that there is no ready made solution available on the market. BA appears to have decided that Segs isn't the answer otherwise he would be here (Nearly every UK contract has a get out clause should an opportunity arise at home). I reckon we need to find our own number 9 within our ranks and develop him accordingly.

Every year there are players who rise to the occassion or burst onto the scene from obscurity - maybe someone will come to the fore that we haven't really considered yet.

Overall we have a very strong looking side though. Things are lookin' up.

Oh, and welcome to the site mate. If you need any advice of a sexual or relationship nature, personal grooming, adult experimentation or you need to know what women want i'm the adonis you need to be speaking to brother.

Every site needs a damn sexy man beast that the lads, and of course the ladies, can turn to in a time of need.

    Cheers :)

"That's it Badger. The way we are, right now. On a Day of Miracles, we win by 1-10. On a business-as-usual Groundhog Day, we lose by 14-60 (we concede on average around 30pg and 37pg outside Commbank since mid-2023)."
