  • And beat the refs too.
  • He's a country mile better than any other winger in the comp.

  • Semi has all of the raw ingredients to be a great. He is still learning the game and this must be kept in context. With work on his positioning in defence and his body positioning when scoring he could be anything. I emphasise again that these are minor adjustments, especially for a bloke so new to rugby league. His development is something else.
    • I truly dont know if he needs many more minor adjustments.

When him first came into FG, his catching was ordinary, his positional play in defense was as well. He'll never be a leaping over for a try sort of winger but more a Manu type of winger.

His defense has been solid and his catching is improved. Semi is a world class winger now and will only get better.

Looking forward to see where he raises the bar too over the next few years.

  • Great Stat report champion thanks....Deano.....
  • Time for the club to work out what is going on with the penalties. They are being refereed unfairly almost every week. The players are being treated like children playing against men. It is as if the referees are trying to teach them the rules but let the other team get away with the same offence. Last night was simply diabolical. I have no doubt there is something going on with the referees and Parramatta. It is baltant and across all grades. Tell me if I am wrong but the second half penalty count in reserves last week was 10:1.
    • You're wrong. But you asked someone to say so! I thought the penalty for slamming that Dragon on his back was unwarranted, but offside is offside. I just don't find it reasonable to assume some grand conspiracy amongst different referees all year and last year too. It's more likely there is an issue with how our defense resets. We conceded 8 penalties in their quarter as they tucked it out from a kick. We're obviously trying to be aggressive and rush up, but it seems the line takes a set or two to form in those situations, opening us to offside and ruck penalties.

The positive to this, for those fixated on ref conspiracy, is that if viewed as our issue then we can see an area of improvement. Now, imagine where Saints would have been minus 8 piggy back penalties out of trouble? Or imagine the Cowboys second half, aided by some penalties? If the Eels fix this issue we are going to be able to exert pressure via defense, attaining better field position on average. And we have shown we can attack
  • We had more missed tackles, less possession, less meters run, and given away more penalties.

It seems the difference was completion rate and kick metres.
  • Considering Daniel Anderson was formerly the referees coach i would have thought that maybe we would have been much better with our penalties. It seems like we are much worse now.

"Until we become a strong club on and off the field we will continue to be on the wrong side of 50/50 calls as well as blatant ones.
Officials have no fear of the EELS reaction to bad calls.

NRL came out and said Turbo was offside but the bunker could not intervene unless the eels challenged it. Basically we got robbed but nrl can't do anything about it. 🤣
