"I mean sure, but Richo is at times a bit of a lone ranger. He could work with Ryles well.
But you have a point on wasting time as the longer we wait the closer we are to 2027 and need to set up the roster."

"Ryley looks injured. If he is give him a spell. Tds is the only other option. Pezet is too slow and a deadset liability in defence which made Kelly look worse than what he is. Should never have been brought here. Papa was improving week on week.…"
"Twiddle had 3 try assists in the halves, he is similar to a young Munster, I think he should make a debut this year at some stage, even off the bench. Lorenzo played very good also "

Exactly. Fans will be less frustrated with the actual referee sometimes getting 50/50 calls wrong. They usually even themselves out. What fans of the game can't cop though, is the bunker getting so many decisions obviously wrong after they have all the time in the world to review. It's just laughable. The NRL would be better off giving the bunker seat to a random fan as a lucky door prize. " OK fans, the bunker official for tonight will be" ...... drumroll... " Bay 221, Row G, seat 37 - Congratualtions and make your way to......"
They could not do a worse job than what we see from the bunker every game🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
The thing I have found interesting was when I did some digging on Kearney. It was brought up how Ryles is now Kearney, I came to see in 42 games as coach we only conceded 50 once under him.
in 25 games with Ryles 3 times. But also 6 again rule has made it that there are more higher scores. Thats how this rule has changed the game in that you look at more teams putting 50 on due to momentum being created purely from referee discretion not from skills of the attacking team.
Do we still lose on Thursday if 6 again wasn't a thing? Absolutely. Do we have 52 put on us? Not so sure.
Different game and different rules it's hard to compare really.
What I will say Kearney never amounted to much as a head coach and probably was just an assistant at best.
It has always been a blight on this great game, it was never for slowing down the ruck it has always been for the 1's in charge manipulating the game. At the beginning they always showed why the six again was given than all of a sudden it stopped because people started relising it was rubbish and just complete cheating of those in charge.
Issue is it will be here to stay. Same with that stupid kick-off rule that all bar Bennett were against. V'Landys will force it in if the coaches like it or not and ruin it more.
They are trialing the kick-off rule at the end of the year on games that have no finals implications. When he has an idea he has to see it through.
Hes like a chef owning a restaurant and has a great menu but then changes it every weekend and some dishes get more weirder and elaborate and customers get turned off.
I didn't mind it at first, the intention sounded right, but it has absolutely taken control of every game and is now deciding game outcomes more than the performances. The refs use it for everything, and it's gotten to a point where i'm screaming at the screen wondering what the fuck is happening. This is fast becoming the worst thing about the game and needs to be under the spotlight.
The set restarts ( 6 again) are the biggest blight on the sport. Nine times out of ten nobody can figure out why they're given. They basically give the referee the power to control the outcome of games. The sooner this rule is gone the better for the game. Either that or make a limit on how many can be given per game and ban all repeat sets inside the red zone. I mean seriously what team can defend against the Storm for 3 repeat sets inside the 10 metres without conceding points plus physical exhaustion.
win lose or draw, i'm no longer a fan of the 6 again. They appear to not be fairly applied to both teams.
Lets look at the games so far.
'Newcastle v Cowboys. Cowboys had quicker play the ball speed 3.3seconds average compared to Necastle 3.41 average. So the Cowboys are playing the ball quicker on average but Newcastle conceded 2 x 6 agains for holding down and Cowboys 0 for the game. The stats say Newcastle were slower, so would that not lean more to that Newcatske were held down longer.
Bulldogs average play the ball 3.58, St George 3.69. Bulldogs were playing it quicker the teams conceded 2 x 6 agains each
Storm average 3.58 vs Eels 3.79, surely there is an argument that the Storm were holding the Eels down more to slow the ruck but the 6 agains Storm 5 conceded and the Eels 8 conceded. Both teams significantly penalised by this refereee compared to other teams. If anything the Eels play the ball has been the slowed down
The Warriors were held down with a dismal 3.9 second average play the ball, Rorters were able to play at 3.69 second average. You would think that the Rorters would of been penalised more but no the warriors were pinged with 4 six agains and the Rorters conceded 3 six agains.
The Broncos v Penrith was most even with Broncs playing at 3.48 and Penrith 3.5 seconds with 6agains 4 and 3.
Those stats further the case of it's a referee thing and perhaps bias can appear when deciding whom is holding whom down consistently longer. The Eels with 8 conceded 6 agains is so far the worst this round. The storms play the ball has been the 3rd best, so far. Go figure.
And a number of those 6 agains awarded to the Eels were late in the game with no chance of impacting final result. Even questionable. But it makes the final count look a little more even. Happens all the time. Not just for Eels.
be nice to see average per team per game for comparison
