"Yep agree. Though clubs like Canberra and Brisbane do it and did well, i just do not like it. I don't mind doing what BA did in between 2020-2022, where he would have Mahoney play 80 each week but then around Round 8-10 he would bring in like…"

"Well put it this way, Brisbane are under way more pressure than us. Brisbane being in a one team town, the biggest fan base in the comp, reigning premiers, Haas leaving for Souths and Reynolds retiring despite saying a month prior he was keen to…"
"Agree LB, both.
And to Coryns point, to win in Melbourne, you need to be perfect - and you need to be given a fair chance.
We've seen it too many times, if the Storm are allowed a different playing field, they will destroy you.
Haha that's still…"

Even the tackles are a grey area. Some tackles have players holding the tackled player down so their defensive line can get set and it doesn't get penalised. Other tackles the same thing does. Where is the consistency that viewers demand? The NRL can make any rule they like in the interests of the the game, but you can't make rules that have so many grey areas as that lends itself to lack of accountability.
Gives them the ability to push any team they want without really any explanation. Watch any bulldogs game and you will see this in full effect lol.
Though Coryn I would argue the sport, like any, is always entertainment. You go to watch a park footy match, you are watching it for entertainment, it wasn't entertaining you wouldn't watch it.
We watch tennis as it's entertaining. Cricket the same. All sports are that. Yeah rules change to make it more entertaining but it is always entertainment.
The NRL's obsession with high scoring games being more entertaining is a complete myth. Many of these such games are not good spectacles at all. Many of the most entertaining games in recent seasons are not the high scoring affairs at all.
Well yeah, look at Manly v Canberra just then, amazing game it was close.
Last year Penrith v Dogs was like 8-6 and was one of the best games in years.
You definitely like to see teams earn their yards and wrestle points. Not just be marched up the field with 6 more every set. Needs to be a balance
When you lose by 50, you can't blame the refs for losing. However the refereeing was diabolical and should still be scrutinised. Chris Butler in particular needs to be held to account for his performance. 1st of all the knock on call that we challenged. Complete and utter incompetence at best. And secondly the Iongi head high not getting penalised. There's absolutely no excuse for the bunker to get those 2 calls so fundamentally wrong
Problem is while not changing the overall result in terms of win or lose, the terrible decisions often happen at crucial times, completely changing the momentum during that smaller period of the game. So often, just when a team is fighting their way back into the set for set arm wrestle, a diabolical decision just bursts the bubble.
The thing I have found interesting was when I did some digging on Kearney. It was brought up how Ryles is now Kearney, I came to see in 42 games as coach we only conceded 50 once under him.
in 25 games with Ryles 3 times. But also 6 again rule has made it that there are more higher scores. Thats how this rule has changed the game in that you look at more teams putting 50 on due to momentum being created purely from referee discretion not from skills of the attacking team.
Do we still lose on Thursday if 6 again wasn't a thing? Absolutely. Do we have 52 put on us? Not so sure.
It has always been a blight on this great game, it was never for slowing down the ruck it has always been for the 1's in charge manipulating the game. At the beginning they always showed why the six again was given than all of a sudden it stopped because people started relising it was rubbish and just complete cheating of those in charge.
