6 Again Panthers or Penalty Panthers (Pick whatever name you want)

So I looked at the the nrl.com website to see the statistics about the game. Firstly, Panthers had 65% possesion in comparison to Eels 35% possession. Generally, for a possession ratio this bad, one team would have to be constantly making errors. However, if you look at the completition rate, Eels completed at 84% percent which is actually very good. Than you look at Panthers and see that they completed worser at 80%. So if errors don't explain the possesion ratio it must be the six agains. So I am pretty sure all but one six again (the one the bunker overulled) was because of ruck infringements/slowing down the play the ball. The nrl website shows that Eels play the ball speed was 3.46s while Panthers were 3.43s. I know this is a small difference and that play the ball speeds largely depend on momentum and how dominant the tackle was. But how can one team be given 8 6 agains to the other teams 3 six agains. I am not saying Panthers got too many 6 agains or that Eels didn't get enough 6 agains. I just want consistency and expect the six again account to be very similar, espcially when the play the ball speed is nearly identical. I saw so many flops by Panthers players preventing a quick play the ball. Yet, it resulted in nothing. Whereas, Panthers players would get a six again for an Eels player holding them down for 1 milisecond too long. Generally speaking I like minimal 6 agains as it allows for the players to determine the result rather than the reff. Unless the team is being horrendus, refs should try to give leneancy to the defensive time I believe to reduce 6 again calls. Overall. it is clear that Eels never did anything to warrant that possession ratio, hence its really exposes the reffering bias and flaws of that game.

P.S. In the press conference for the time first time I think BA showed a slight bit of frustrations at the refs. He never directly said anything, but his tone and some of the stuff he said implied he wasn't happy with the weight of possession.

  • May I add, eels six agains were either on tackle 1 or tackle 2. It's what Refs do to try make this game look a little less bias when looking at the overal pentalty count of the game.

  • Panthers got way too many 6 agains. Basically every time we completed a set and Kicked, the Panthers got an 8-10 tackle set to get out of trouble. Pretty much every set.  We had zero chance.

    • Everytime we pinned them down and they were under pressure they got 6agains. Biggest joke.

      • I tipped Panthers into Mansour first try score. Doesn't mean I come on here and bag my team every chance I can.

      • Oh, No not Vertitool again. Not the smartest tool in the shed.

  • We got rorted tonight. We were not given a fair go with that lob sided six again count and the numerous knock ons by Panthers that were not called before two of there tries.

    • The first try of the riffs was a result of a knock on by Luai that was never called. So we can see that Fergo was applauding because it was a knock on and Parra players stopped but Sutton said it was not. In the next sequence Mansour scored on Fergo's edge.

  • I often saw panthers players looking at the ref when laying on us. If they have enough time to make the tackle and then stare at the ref waiting for him to say get up, then they aer laying on us way too long.

We often had them pinned in thier own 20 and they got a 6 again call to help them out. We never really had a chance to attack as we were costantl coming off our own line. We tried gping thru the middle but they were good in D and we didnt really make much ground. Had we got a fair call on 6 again calls we would have been able to get out of our end more and the panthers would have tired out more too. In the end, we were too gassed to really attack with any potency. Yes we still need to work on our attack tho as many times any moves we tried broke down with players out of position. Im super proud of the boys as a 65% possesion rate should have resulted in the panthers putting on a much bigger score

  • Amongst other things, the constant six again calls killed us. Worst thing about the calls is you never know what they're for. No one does. The players don't, commentators don't and fans are left clueless.

  • There's no way known Penrith only had 8 six agains
