1EE Modern day Eels team: Centres

Thank you everyone for voting on Wingers.

The Fijian flyer won unanimously while Eric Grothe Jr. and Luke Burt tied. The tiebreak will come at a later date as we could have one on the bench.

Now onto Centres.

  • Tahu for me I'd say.

Are we only considering games played for the Eels?

    • Yes, we are looking at players how they played for Parramatta.

  •  Jamie Lyons

    Ben Smith

    • Tahu over Ben Smith as he's a dedicated left side centre and Killer is a no brainer on the right.

  • Vaealiki was a very underrated player. Him and the smiling assassin (Inu) would be great. As would Tahu.

IMO Smith was better as a second rower.

Can't pick Lyon. He was good for us but his best days were at the other mob.

  • No clear standout in this one. Should be an interesting result.

  • Jamie Lyon (right centre), edging out Timana Tahu (right centre)

Michael Jennings (left centre), edging out Michael Buettner and a smokey in Krisnan Inu

I've only just seen that the selection criteria is post-2000. Every single one of these candidate centres were not one-club players. That is interesting in the context of Will Penisini, who debuted for the Eels in July 2021 (as a 20 year old) and played Game 100 in Round 27 of 2025. Loyalty not quite enough to get Will into the list but at what point does loyalty start converting people's assessments?

    • 1998 to be exact Daz, made it NRL era.

Yeah great point that none of them were one club players.

  •  Lyion

  • No Jarrod McCraken

P.S - A poor choice of phrasing referring to Finch as an "artist" and his "art". He'd never make this team regardless."
