Eels 2024 Premiers!!

The rot is close to stopping. Big news is close to hand.   When the full crew return, the experience the youngsters have gained will be invaluable as Parramatta begin their charge up the ladder.  Shock and awe is coming- as I have said, weekly.   For those quick to scoff and deride, I told you exactly ( many weeks out) what would happen in 2022, and it did. No such insight last year, but back this year.  A final comment- Trent Barrett is going to produce something special before this is over. …

It's time to build a team that we can be proud of again!!!

I have just returned from our yearly vigil to Magic Round with my 3 kids. I didn't expect the Eels to win and they probably played like I thought they would, so i wasn't majorly disappointed. But my 13 year old son had high hopes and was absolutely gutted by that spineless performance. As a team and a club we are at a crossroads right now and some tough decisions need to be made. I confess I have been a BA fan, maybe even one of the so called "Unicorns" of the site. Always believing the best of…

Missed opportunity with Bennett

I know this is not a new or insightful blog but to have not taken the opportunity to secure the services of a once in a generation (to be honest once in a lifetime) coaches will be spoken about for years to come.We are now back in the wilderness as far as finals is concerned for years to come under the current situation with our administration and some deadwood as far as players and our development of juniors. The worst case scenario now will be BA getting the sack 4 weeks after Bennett signs…

Blaize should leave

I obviously want Blaize to stay an Eel but his development here is shaping as a complete disaster. Last week BA said he didn't know what position Blaize should be playing. Deadset if you've had a prodigious junior coming through your system he should've been developed in the position the club needs from 2 years ago. It's clear the club has been in desperate need of a centre and a future fullback .. he's been given some off season work at fullback after never having played there before and then…

NRL admits bunker got it wrong on roosters obstruction call

Graham Annesley has conceded a controversial obstruction call that cost Roosters star Joey Manu a fair try against the Panthers was wrong. The NRL head of football has wasted no time conceding that video referee Chris Butler failed to use the necessary level of discretion in incorrectly deeming that Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards was obstructed from defending the no-try due to a collision with Roosters decoy runner Jared Waerea-Hargreaves. The alleged obstruction from Waerea-Hargreaves on…

Nuclear Power a Balanced View

I previously wrote a blog on the subject of nuclear power.Professor Daz basically took my comments apart and justifiably so as I had nowhere near the knowledge or research capacity to lay a factual basis for the proliferation of nuclear power other than a view I privately held via an economist friend of mineI receive a lot of economic commentary and a newsletter I receive from another economist paints what I believe to be a more balanced view of the discussion. I say this because Daz pointed…

What is everyone's preferred BBQ meat choice?

So Sunday, to celebrate the start of a new season, i am hosting my mates with a BBQ, pool table, darts and man cave while watching the Vegas matches. Though i am curious for a fun discussion what is everyone else's go to for the BBQ? For me, a piece of Scotch Fillet, seasoned with salt and a BBQ seasoning which consists of mustard seeds, paprika, thyme, garlic and more that i cannot remember, cooked to medium rare to medium, simply devine. All i can say is on a pan cooked same is my death row…
