Missed opportunity with Bennett

I know this is not a new or insightful blog but to have not taken the opportunity to secure the services of a once in a generation (to be honest once in a lifetime) coaches will be spoken about for years to come.

We are now back in the wilderness as far as finals is concerned for years to come under the current situation with our administration and some deadwood as far as players and our development of juniors.

The worst case scenario now will be BA getting the sack 4 weeks after Bennett signs with the rabbitohs and we have to take on a cheap untried coach that can't attract players and has to be given time to rebuild a side without the experience to do so.

Bennett is a no brainer to be our coach. All of a sudden the players will be on notice to keep their spot and play to their full potential to impress the incoming coach as well as being able to attract players like Jeremy Marshall King.

If someone isn't on the phone to Bennett now with their tail between their legs begging Bennett to flip on South's and consider coming to the Eels they should all be let go.

I said this last week but if BA is still here next year I'm done being a member. I will support the Eels until the day I die but cannot give this administration one more cent. I'm sure I won't be the only one

  • Hit the nail on the head Jase, its madness Bennett wasn't approached!

    • I think it's one of those sliding door moments Archie.

I don't know if I'm right but my next best option is Maguire especially if he can guide the Blues to a series win with all the players not available for selection.

      • Yep agreed, they need hard discipline and Maguire provides that. You could only offer him a two year deal and have an under study like Jason Ryles to take over in two years.

      • On Maguire, gus stated he is going to pick a different looking team based purely on effort. Our team is so badly coached its hard to believe his still there!

        • We clearly lack effort Darren from a lot of players on good money.

First time I have even seen Dylan give up. To me that the canary in the coalmine moment for BA.

not sure the board even watch the game from the corporate boxes, to busy networking

          • I'm happy w Humphrey b bear

we need to cut that awful cancerous cord

( rouse hill rhino crap seeped right in and along with protective behaviours for his own chn it has butchered his thinking over at least 2-3 seasons

            conflict of interests galore

            and hasn't that ended well

snake , Bert  myself and others all predicted it 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

      • Michael I'm not sure what BA is on per year but the difference between BA's salary and 1 million for Bennett would be made up in new memberships alone.

This board is short-sighted and lacks football IQ

          • Thanks Michael

I didn't really take that into account

  • The entire board need to be let go.

They have no clue what it takes to run an elite sporting club and not moving heaven and earth to get the best coach of this generation spells it out. ZERO CLUE!!!

    • 100% Matt

It's clear there isn't a football brain on the board and think success is a bottom line.

I live on the Gold Coast and the crowds and membership are crap because they are unsuccessful. When they came back into the league and were semi successful you struggled to get a seat now you can get front row centre at every game. This is what the Eels are going to face soon and will look even worse in a 30 000 seat stadium
