Was that the worst of all?

Ive been in the crowd for many a finals let down 98 vs dogs 99 vs storm 01 knights 09 stormBut this one im not sure why but it feels worse we were out played yes. But vy a team we should of been on top off forward passes knock ons poor defence ill discipline a strange bench rotation. This one hurts i thought we could get past the roosters and it could be our year i dont often get carried away with hype and all that butbafter last week i saw us a a real threat to the comp then we perform like that.Maybe because its so fresh thats why it hurts but apart from 01 i don't think ive felt this gutted in 01 i was a teenager and believed it would come soon enough im in my 30s now and im beginning to think ill never see my team win the premiership.Always next year if not the year after etc etc....

  • Mate, we lacked consistency all year.  Sorry, but that is the truth.  We had a good run at the end of the season, but look at the games we lost that we should not have and more importantly, the reasons that we lost. Same old, same old in every game we lost.

    • I agree thats why it took me a while to get into the hype. We need to be better simple as that
  • The loss in the 2001 grand final will always be the biggest heartbreak for me followed closely by the 2005 thrashing from the Cowboys.
Surprisingly, even though I’m disappointed, I feel we’ve done really well to get this far in 2017....
  • No

1998 was the worst up by 16 with 10 to go and would've been up against a Broncos side that the team had owned that year.

1999 was 2nd worse big lead at the break and imploded in the 2nd half similarly would have won the gf if they got there.

2001 is 3rd simply because yes it may have been the biggest choke but the knights always had Andrew Johns

2005 is 4th should have done better but from kickoff just never got in the game

2009 doesn't even rate a mention in this sort of talk.

This year was bad in terms of the lead up but from the opening whistle it was clear there was something wrong so i have it at number 4
  • I agree with Kevin. This is not as bad as 2005 and 2001. In both of those years we were the standout best team and this year we exceeded expectations.

We actually played in line with our average standard this year. The games against broncos and storms showed our potential but on average we were average.
  • I literally just said the exact same thing to my wife. After the 2001 loss I was thinking (in order to mentally get over the heartache), 'oh well we will win one with this team soon enough anyway.' Now all these years later and in my 30s and I too am thinking maybe I'll never see a premiership win.
  • 41,000 of us turned up tonight and did all we could to take our boys into week 3 of the finals.
Sadly our boys didn't show up.
  • I was at the game terribly silly play cows scored after half time from then on every play we tried to score and it was obvious what was about to unfold.
Very disappointing performance cows really wanted it more
  • It was a very ordinary performance from the Eels in comparison with their game against the Broncos and Storm! The bench choices were still baffling. I'm so used to Eels letting down their fans it's like secon nature now. However, overall it was good the Eels at least made it to the finals.
  • I would seriously love to be on there mad Monday! I hope there talking about this not happening again next year....
