THE HAYNE STRIDE. NFL OR ATTITUDE.

The first time I watched Jarryd play in 2017 I saw something different in his running style. My initial thoughts were jeez ol mate's unfit. Yet with in the first part of the season I started to think that those bloody seppos had trained the instinct out of his natural running stride. The latter part of the Titans season and his world cup appearances showed me another side of Jarryd again. His attitude was on hold while his ego was running amok and his on field presence suffered. Can a resurrection under Uncle Brad and a more natural running style from Wilmotts AFL experience bring our favourite son back into contention for another dally m and maybe a Churchill. That is the question.

  • Agree Rexy, hes looked flat on the park, hes gotta lose a few KGs but some bulks good for centre imo, hes got a centres figure if ive ever seen one, he just needs to trim down a bit, work on his lateral movement and pace off the mark

I think he'll make a very good long term centre, he has one of the best cut out passes going, hes got a nice little flick pass around the back, very nice short kicking game around the line, solid defence, top line instincts, hes got all the ability to play there.

The question is can he put team first, grow up and become a leader in the group, set an example and play to his ability, thats the 500k question.

    • Yeh mate he couldn't seem to break through tackles at all yet in his heyday he never got touched. I thought at first he had been somehow trained to think he could run straight over or through defenders something maybe from NFL, when he found again that NRL D is so much more intense and in your face his confidence was gone and then the attitude stepped in. Hope he gets his shitt together.
    • Who’s he going to cut out passing from centre? Still think he is a fullback. He may play a bit of centre but his best footy will still be at fullback provided he gets fit enough
  • I 100% agree snake, he has the perfect "frame" to be a gun centre and has all of the skill / attributes to really succeed in that position. If he can lose 5kg and work on his sprint work who knows how good JH will be. Like you said though, it all come down to how bad JH wants it and if he can but his ego aside.
  • Hayne will be the buy of the year! That’s if he comes to the Eels! Never mentioned Western Sydney in his parting words to Titans! He stated he was moving back to Sydney with no mention of the Eels!

    • You need to really change that dumb red hat Bex! It really does look stupid!
  • those bloody seppos had trained the instinct out of his natural running strideNice observation and good deduction Rex

    his ego was running amok

Always been a bit of a poser our Jazza; I remember at one stage when he was tackled, he'd make out like Mary Pickford trying to get off her knees after her bully boy husband had whacked her.

I'm beginning to see the 2018 season being a real expo for a whole range of things; the teams commitment and talent, their individual performances, the overall coaching staff ability and  BA's ability to get good performance out of a temperamental and religious young man.

    • Yep bit like inglis if he blew a play it was always because he was injured. That's attitude, coming up with excuses for not being as invincible as he makes out to be. Something else I noticed though was his inability to break through one on one tackles, like he wasn't even trying. In BA we trust.
