Some hope

Like many of you I am really struggling this year. After such a promising start it has well and truly turned into a disaster of a year which is why I am going to share my experience tonight. I'm not sure if I am allowed to share this but I think it's important with all the negative media reports going around that we each do our best to pick fellow supporters up off the canvas and keep everyone going. So I hope this helps it certainly did for me.I attended the corporate partners event tonight and as much as it is about networking and trying to do business I had reservations about it. Caylo was mc and did a great job as usual then they have a speech from a member of the management team, last time it was boulos......but who would it be tonight there is no one left. Well slit my gut and call me skippy Ian Schubert is called on stage who I believe is only acting as a consultant. He goes up and at first I am thinking what about Izzy Folau mate but then he starts talking and he openly talks about the things going on and how we were OK cap wise until the sins of the past caught up with us and the more he says "we are doing this" and "we are doing that" by the end of his speach I was actually feeling much better and could see some light at the end of that dark tunnel that we have been traveling down the past few weeks. The thing that mainly hit home is that BA has a plan that he is working on with the Schub and they have players ready to replace those going or gone and these players want to come to play for brad. That also gave me the confidence that brad isn't going anywhere. They also havent given up on this year, they aren't being dillusional but they will keep fighting all the way to the end. Caylo again showed and reiterated his love for the club and said it several times both on stage and when mingling and it just reminded me that there are people who do care for the club and are working hard to repair it. All is not lost we will come out of this and maybe bigger and stronger so as hard as it is hang in there people.

  • Nice read. Things can hopefully get better.
    • Oh great now I've that song stuck in my head...things can only get better...
  • When you think about it , even though this years a write off any potential new player with half a brain would know next year we will be contenders with the addition of two or three more half quality players .
    • Damned right we will be!

  • One game at a time and week by week Xman. Don't look beyond that.

I was getting a hair cut the other day and 2 blokes waiting were chatting about the Eels year and how bad it was. I had that electric shaver thing buzzing in my ear and only heard bits of it. But couldn't join in. They sounded so disillusioned. By the time the barber was done I stood up to pay with my 2016 Eels member lanyard with my keys in my hand. I turned to the bloke who just finished sounding depressed and said "cmon we are Eels fans, it's always next year". Noticing I was a member I got a handshake and this blokes spirits picked up, had a chuckle and cracked a smile.

Blogs like these are good just like that exchange. It's hard to take what's happened this year if you think your alone. But to have others standing beside you makes it easier to face.
    • Exactly darks well done mate we have to pick eachother up, no one else will
    • A fucking 40+ year old bloke having a haircut . Fuccking bragger . # 1 on the clippers for me all over these days bro.
  • This is good to read. Thanks Xman

  • Absolutely frankie and of course that is still a concern but as long as ba is still around with Schub and they have control on the footy side we will be in good shape on the field. I think the NRL will be keeping a close eye on who takes control from now on.
  • Yeah great read in this time of darkness. Thanks!

"Funny how a lot of BA fan boys on here are now jumping of the bus but blaming everybody else. A lot on here have known and been saying for years that the coach was not the only one responsible for this situation. "
