Rubbish signings will plague us for the next 3 years

Champion? Earl? Watmough?

All has been players. Champion is injury prone. Earl was NEVER any good and Watmough will be like Luke Lewis....moves clubs and plays about 5 games a year.....invest in your juniors and if you MUST buy someone, then sign them up to 1 year deals.

If we sign these old codges to long term deals then we will stuff our salary cap plus lose any juniors we have coming through.

The eels should have a 'test' when signing players. To sign with the club they must have played at least 18/26 games AND be under 28. Problem solves

Years??? Champion has signed a one year deal, Earl would be on jack shit and Whatmong will not come unless Manly let him go which i doubt.

Norman has been solid. He's no game breaker yet, he's only 22 and he will get better and stronger.

Some people on here do make me laugh sometimes. Watmough is a current Australian / NSW, table topping player. That's without counting all the Grandfinals he has played. He will bring to us what an old Ben Kennedy brought to Manly all those years ago, when they were struggling. That Ben Kennedy signing was what instilled the winning culture in players like , watmough, Glenn Stuart , kite, king etc. I think what watmough has to offer is priceless. I'm sure BA knows this, and so does Toovey hence his reluctance to give him a release.

  Ye it appears as though unless we sign 1 of the best 3 players in the world there will always be someone who complains. That's ok though 1eyed is the complaints dept for eels fans and if u can't have a whinge here where can u have one?

  George you make a ver good point. As I recall, when Kennedy signed with Manly he too was considered very injury prone (the result of his "hundred miles per hour" approach to the game). Not sure who we have to sign to make people happy.

  The Ben Kennedy effect, exactly 100% correct. Our young forwards have heaps of potential but just like a tradesman doesn't become a craftsman without an old head teaching him how, our boys need a forward leader that is a winner, an aggressive confident winning footballer, it would also help the older guys like Tim Mannah to be around such a character like Watmough, Tim may learn that you can be a right bastard on the football field and a nice God fearing man off it.

Earl and champion are 1 year deals adding to the depth and insuring that players have to compete with each other for their positions. Whatmough i could take it or leave it he would add experience to our pack which we are lacking. My preference would be to sign mason on a 1 year deal.

Wicks earl champion are minimal investment and if they kick on you could get a great return.

What I believe we are doing is making smart cheap signings other then Watmough that are adding to our depth.
