Brad Arthur hints at another halves reshuffle.

Arthur: You can’t keep a good team down http://yi.nzc.am/eQb3L0In Arthur's pre match interview posted today, he hints at a Bevan French return as early as next week, which could result in another halves reshuffle with Takairangi possibly on the move again.“Takaz is five-eighth again this week, and if we get a few back on deck the following week maybe there will be some changes, but for the moment, he will stay there this week anyway.” Arthur said.Who misses out? I'm hoping it won't be Auva'a, who had some very nice touches and was a vital cog in our comeback on last Monday.I also think we need continuity in the halves, and noticed Takairangi looking more comfortable as the game went on. We looked more dangerous in that second half against the Tigers, than in most games this year.Analyze the interview - who plays where when French returns?

  • Either Taka moves to the bench or the centres (this means Auva'a out)
  • From what Arthur said I think French goes back to fb, Gutho back to 6 and Taka back to centre.

    •  i really like auva'a i wanna see him stay in centre  gutho at half taka 14  but i really have no clue what to do with the bench with edwards back

    • Then I hope they drop Hoffman & put Auva on the wing
  • Could also depend on the outcome of semis court hearing
  • I think that we have to keep in mind that although TAKA may have looked good last week, it was against whom I believe are the second worst team in the comp. You can take it to the bank that because our halves are not experienced that performance week in week out will moderate between good and woeful. That's the nature of the beast when you use a "makeshift" pairing. A'auva is useless and was beaten all ends up against the warriors, absolute turnstile, remember this bloke was being primed for the back row at Souths.

Regardless of Arthur's choice the link between Gutho/Norman/ A'auva/Taka in any position is not the long term solution for Parramatta. We will have to wait for Moses' arrival next year as he goes to 7, Norman to 6, Gutho in the centres and then French to fullback. Until then we better be prepared to be frustrated some weeks when we drop our lollies.

    • There's no doubt that besides Norman, we we're always going to field a makeshift halves pairing - with the Foran debacle happening so late in the piece, we had no time to recruit.

That's what some fail to realize, it was always going to be difficult with only one recognized half, and if we do happen figure in the 8, it would be a fair accomplishment.
  • French to wing

  • Two of many possible scenarios.

1: Changes happening only on the bench. 20 to 30 minutes in, bring on Bevan French to replace Taka @ 6 who gets a break and Taka can then cover the 10 to 20 minute break Kaysa Pritchard needs before coming on for the last 20 to 25 minutes of the 2nd half. On the bench Taka can also cover 3, 4, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13  if injuries occur and if so, then Nathan Brown goes to hooker until Kaysa  comes back on for the last 20/25 of the 2nd half.

2: Alvaro is dropped and Beau Scott is on the bench as a back-rower come utility.

    1. Clinton Gutherson

    2. Semi Radradra

    3. Michael Jennings

    4, Kirisome Auva'a

    5. Josh Hoffman - though I feel it's time we blood someone as skilful but far more robust and intimidating than Hoffman

    6. Brad Takairangi

    7. Corey Norman

    8. Tim Mannah

    9. Kays Pritchard

    10. Suaia Matagi

    11. Manu Ma'u

    12. Tepai Moeroa

    13. Nathan Brown

    14. Bevan French

    15. Kenny Edwards

    16. Daniel Alvaro or Beau Scott

    17. Siosaia Vave

  • I keep saying it but the best long term option in the centres for us are Auva'a and Jennings. They are NRL quality week in week out centres. Could you guys honestly see Melbourne or the Sharks playing Taka in the centres? I'd politely suggest they wouldn't. At best he would make either side on the bench as an interchange forward. He probably wouldn't make the Melbourne side at all. He's an exciting player to watch when on and seemingly a good bloke but we have to get ruthless with our team selections.

"I see that approach as well, probably extend him if anything. Also the whole retirement comment is half the forwards should retire. Hopefully get traded while they still have value but won't be. "
