  • No Italy yet again is crazy .  Any Italians care to share their thoughts as to how and why Italy have sunken to such a disappointing result the last few WCs ?

World cups without a good Italian team is a poorer event .

    • I'll tell you why my old buddy.

      1. The people who have run Italian football are a cross between Spags and Sharp , shit for brain would be a compliment for the people who have run Italian football for the past 20 years.

      2. Italian football mentality over the years is that  experience overides actual talent.

      3. Italy always does well in under 17 and 19 tournaments but they never kick on , this is to do with point 2 , young players don't get the development or experience they need in the main Italian domestic competition.

      4. Perhaps the most important reason is that the Italian football competition once had a limit on how many  international players could play in its competition which meant more young Italian players got a opportunity to play in main competition.

On a positive note , being a Parramatta supporter I'm used to disappointed so it don't bother me at all as I'm use to sporting depression and failure.

      • You should buy the Italian Football Association, Fong, you could rebirth them like  Rusty's Rabbitohs..  Plaster Fongs real Estate across the front and write it off as tax. Just negative gear them.

  • Hey Wiz, love the football world cup and the crowd scenes too; I have to some of the most beautiful real women you could see.

Germans will always be strong; but Spain was one of my top 4 beforehand and still can be.

The Aussies for me have a danger game this weekend; and we must get at least a draw as the concern can be they are still ' on a high' from the weekend; we can definitely beat them with our defence - tbh I am not sure how it goes.

    • I'm only playing catch up at the moment , didn't even realise that Italy were out again as I've stated above .  It's a bit hollow without them .

but moving along , you may be correct , the Yanks have certainly knuckled down in the Soccer dept since Beckham fever brought it onto their list of must get better list .

And yes they most certainly could catch us off guards due to some over celebrations after the win on Sunday . Home crowd will be spectacular for them too . If we do Bea them I can see us kicking on like a benchwarmers / underdogs type movie .

To be honest I thought Turkey would belt us down to the lack of any real superstars in our camp .

      • The Europe qualifying is insane mate; v hard to make it through. The Turks are good and our goalie saved us i feel - the possesion was insane against and we scored two goals from some sharp passing and scoring.

I feel the Spanish / Frence / Krauts and possibly England will be up there; and the South Americans again; it would be good to see some African nations get up there who can score some goals.

The Yanks have the population and seem to bring in ex-players to make their comp strong. I feel if we get through some quality teams will take their chances more so than the Turks did; we could be better in 2030

        • I'm on the Krauts , if it's not the Aussies.

          • I am on the one with the most passionate and best looking fans....there are some

  • I think, if things go as expected, that the Germermans, Frogs and Spaniards are on the same side of the draw.

Likely it will be France v Germany in R16 with Winner v Netherlands in QF and then Winner v Spain in SF.

On the other side it's England, Brazil, Argentina and Portugal looking likely as QF-ists.

Of course, results may mean some swap sides either by design or otherwise.
