Pool question.

Around the pool - Concrete vs Eko decking  ?

Have had a concrete Plungie Max pool plonked in the ground , approx sitting 300mm above ground level and am torn between concreting around it or Eko decking .

anyone able to share their experiences with either? Obviously concrete is concrete , not too much to report their I'm guessing . Still would be good to hear any concrete cons people can share .

  • There should be an ad about pools on the page somewhere amongst the 100 ads wiz, just follow the links

    • 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • I don't know much about that wiz.  Anyway,  maybe you or someone may know about driveway resurfacing,  not sure whether to just put a coloured sealer or get someone to do a spray on concrete topping

    • Follow your instincts Wiz, is it for practical or ascetic reasons, will people be running up to it or pulling themselves out and lying on the deck.....just be careful how you get ripped off, if its a pool specialist you will pay over the top. If you tile it make sure you have a grout colour that does not show up all the dirt that will become ingrained. If you have timber decking, making sure you have drainage and be prepared to paint or oil it every season......get quotes and ideas, then get someone to do it that DOES NOT specialise in pools...... ordinary tilers will do just as good a job and be subbied by the pool specialists anyway. Finally if you are going to put a spa type heating process in, may sure you lay 15amp cabling and have that same capacity out of your meter box. People get Spa's put in and then find it costs a fortune for electric cabling, Lay that cabling in a conduit pipe before you complete the decking.

How do I know these things.....simple "old age".

      • Tiles can be slippery when wet, sealing concrete is a problem if you ever want to tile it at some stage. You have to take all the sealer off which is a bugger of a job. Lots of work around maintaining timber surfaces. I am not sure if artificial grass is an option?

    • I was thinking concrete and then tile over the top , certainly on the radar . I know the Eko heats up , but it looks good .  But yeah the hart thing what was really turning me off it .  I was steering away from natural Timbers as I really don't wanna touch the cunt ever again .  Well not for a long time anyway . Fuck staining and oiling it every year like my other decking .  I think concrete will be the winner here .

  • Wiz. My nephew is a pool builder and my son is a builder. If yiou need some advice PM me and I will get them to give you a call.

  • Whichever you go for here am idea.  I used know bloke who put drink holders along edge of his pool which was good for keeping beers out of the sun.  Had little boxes with opening 1 side to keep them in the shade.

"I did modern day as 1998 onwards as I didn't see them play, as some here haven't. Where I believe majority of people here have seen all the modern day players play.
Plus it frees up some spots like we all know who 5/8 will be but now no idea."

"Sorry should have clarified, 1998 NRL era.
I stuck to what i knew best. I love Luke Burt, still my favourite ever player, hence the dp. He didn't have that flashy skills like Hayne and was undersized but to accomplish 260+ games is an achievement…"

"Can you define what era / year your modern day starts from.
I took Jarryd Hayne on your survey, but I also loved Luke Burt as a team man. Luke Burt reminded me so much of little Paul Taylor, did so much work but never got the credit he deserved."
