Norm Proven

Sad that Norm Proven has passed away. My condolences to all concerned. Norm coached the Eels for one year--forget which year. He did well considering the roster he took over-- many A-grade junior standard types. As I recall he just missed the finals. I was down watching them training one night and Norm was telling the team how to tackle! In those days there were generally only two in the tackle. Norm said the first one in goes low and the second in goes high ( to lock up the ball) I thought fancy a first-grade coach having to tell his players something so obvious. Such was the standard of some. By the way, three in a tackle only came the norm after Ricky Stuart introduced it the year he coached East to win the premiership. Now four in the tackle is not unusual.

  • Hope Cleary and co feel like the fuckwits that they are. One of the last things he'd have seen in his life was a bunch of fuckheads carrying his figurine around the Goldy in a baby carrier .

"Haze Dunster was in our top 30 for at least a couple of years while AMS and RP might have been outside of top 30 they were probably taking up spots where we could have been recruiting quality talent in lowers grades readying them for 1st grade. For…"

"How does it work, in terms of "contracted top 30", with those Eels lower graders who have been injury prone? Like AMS and Dunster? Dunster was turning out for Wendy until injured (again) in 2025?
Also, I wonder how they assess injury-prone? Do they…"

"We have also had a lot of injury prone players that has been impacting our squad for a few years now. R. Penisini seems to have been injured for 3 years now, AMS, Haze Dunster, Bailey, Matterson. As you said it's no coincidence that Russell and JAC…"

"It's possible definitely but based on the current form especially of the Titans game, injury list, obvious fitness levels it's going to be a real struggle. Yes, the Eels are scoring points when they're really focused in on the match but they're…"

"If this team loses by 40+ or 50 or even 60, i think its time that they sack the GM and start making phone calls to Gus, Shane or anyone that has ball knowledge. We aren't going to win shit if MON and CO are still running the Football side of things.…"

"Parramatta should be favourites for the spoon. Currently the Eels are $5.50. Dragons $1.50
If the dragons played us this week they would certainly win by at least 20.
We have zero outside back reserves coming through who could save us.  Joash is…"
