Zion Johnson? Anyone know him

The Parramatta Eels have continued their raid of the Queensland Cup.

Sunshine Coast falcons winger Zion Johnson has signed a deal to join the Eels next year. Johnson managed 17 tries in 22 appearances for the Falcons who made it to the Grand Final.

Zion’s good form saw him be picked as part of the Fiji World Cup Squad.

Zion has signed a train and trial deal so will need to go out and prove himself. At 25 Zion has plenty of experience and clearly knows how to find the try line!!

      • It will be interesting. Alamendine vs the coconut cartel , and this kid and Brett Allen vs the rest.

        • Lucky we didn't sign Matt Utai's kid to play

        • Brett was not jewish wiz, born again actually....and good to see no descrimination between coconuts and jews, I am sure we can throw in an islamic out of our lot as well...........

  • Why not, could be a diamond in the rough

  • Good ol Hebrew name

    • Cleveland Browns guard who was a former 1st round pick for the LA Chargers.

  • Without a doubt this is a depth signing, with the club hoping the conveyor belt starts for the outside backs over the next couple of years. This is the right call.

    • Yeah, this if anything, strengthens NSW Cup. Even if he doesn't see FG in his time here, he can improve our backline in NSW Cup which helps the team and the players in that team. Instead of relying on Ron Massey Wingers, we have someone with some decent reserve grade experience and quality.

      • Let's hope we have JAC there to mentor him.....maybe was even a consideration in him joining us.

Face value he doesn't have a lot to beat to claim the right wing position, assuming JAC plays the left....though I think he can play both.....this kid was "left" in his highlights reel.

Shit we could have simmonsson and kelly as our reserve grade wingers, plus either can back up in the centres.....sounds good, Schiller and Penesini as the starting centres........shit that has a different feel about it....realalisticly we won't get Best or Bostick, but at least we will have speed in the backline!

PS Simmonsson did play some full back at Canberra and he would be the back up for Iongi? or maybe Moses as a fullback with Volkman coming into half. I am not sure that JAC had a real opportunity at full back this year gone, given he was carrying those rib injuries, face value cannot see why not, if he gets one on one on kick backs, he could do a lot of damage. Don't lose sight of Samrani also being able to play centre or wing.

"Semi played 20's for a year or so. Debuted at 21 for us. He was younger than most, though he was also the most talented."

"Yeah I agree bamblett needs to be fullback in cup, there is no excuse why he shouldn't be, don't put him at 5/8th but, also Fletcher should be the halfback for cup too"

"Seems like he has a good strike rate, 34 tries out of 42 games in he's career. Will be cup winger, possibly playing first grade if he's killing it in cup!!"
