Zion Johnson? Anyone know him

The Parramatta Eels have continued their raid of the Queensland Cup.

Sunshine Coast falcons winger Zion Johnson has signed a deal to join the Eels next year. Johnson managed 17 tries in 22 appearances for the Falcons who made it to the Grand Final.

Zion’s good form saw him be picked as part of the Fiji World Cup Squad.

Zion has signed a train and trial deal so will need to go out and prove himself. At 25 Zion has plenty of experience and clearly knows how to find the try line!!

  • Without a doubt this is a depth signing, with the club hoping the conveyor belt starts for the outside backs over the next couple of years. This is the right call.

    • Yeah, this if anything, strengthens NSW Cup. Even if he doesn't see FG in his time here, he can improve our backline in NSW Cup which helps the team and the players in that team. Instead of relying on Ron Massey Wingers, we have someone with some decent reserve grade experience and quality.

  • Should have been cherry picking guys from QLD cup years ago like others do lots of talent there waiting for a opportunity we need depth signings badly I like this from the club

  • Funnily enough his halfback at Sunshine Coast was Josh Lynn, the former Eels SG Ball player who moved on last year.

this is his highlights reel, got some toe about him

    • Yes he has some good signs; but Townsville #2 is v quick and almost chased him down.

  • I expect more upside talent to be scouted and recruited over the coming years. Ben Rodgers was an absolute handbrake on this club in that area. His departure might be the best thing that happened here over the last 2 years.

    • SP, i said for a while at Rogers was a big issue. Even when MON and Sarantinos copped it, fairly so, i kept saying Rogers deserves blame too. Now we are seeing possibly the start of the post Rogers era looking better already.

  • Parra love a Fijian winger. If history has anything to say about it he may end up a household name.

  • If they think this Fijian is something they need to get up to Fiji itself athletically there's a lot more up there just waiting to be plucked.
