Our pathways are in great shape. This is the difference between where we are at and where the Dogs were at in 2023.
Losing Sanders and Talagi came down to having better options already (Moses and Drown). It wasn't that we couldn't identify talent. The fact we had them at the club meant we identified them well. We just couldn't offer them the NRL opportunity that Canberra and Penrith could.
Of course they would come in handy next year but that's an entirely separate issue to the strength of our pathways.

Front loading them on overs doesn't mean the entire duration of the contract is overs. It works like a signing bonus. The point is to take contract money from future years and pull it into the current/next year of the contract. It happens all the time. The risk is that the player gets a lot of his money up front then agitates for a release later on.
I get the concept , I just see huge issues with it as it still creates a vaccum situation in the coming seasons if you're going to do it in the scale we are talking about. We must be looking at being a few million short in talent at this stage.
