          • JAC got Sivo's money this year but we activated his CO (for 2026) after losing Drown and missing out on Galvin.

            • JAC's on half the contract Sivo was. We lowballed him and he's only on $250k, Sivo was on $500k. We would have got Samrani on what was left.

              • Maybe true for 2025, but the CO would've been for the upper limit of JAC's expected value next year. Otherwise he wouldn't have agreed to it. Imagine an option for a no brainer amount (i.e. overs for a PO or undrs for a CO). It wouldn't be an option at all.

        • We can forward load contracts so that we spend enough of the mandatory amount. Moses can get $2M next year as an example.

          • Considering how quick he signed his last upgrade , he's probably already on 2mil ..... 😜

I get what you're saying as it's our option , and we may have to .  But from a club planning perspective , unless we have locked in some seriously big signings for 2027 , what is the point of front loading players other than just burning a season and creating huge imbalances for the coming years ?   It can create a speed bump of salaries and a need to shed players once all catches up.  Not great for a club to go into another season lean on talent and hoping to be able to spend a huge warchest to create a very short premiership window the following season.

Id say it's a massive fail if we see ourselves down this path.

            • Totally agree but you know ... This is the Eels.

            • Strange you would read it as a massive fail Wiz, you are usually so optimistic?

My guess is that they have a lot smarter people than you looking at the angles and how to play them. Afterall, our hidden strengths as you constantly remind us are the accountants !!!!.

I always am amused by your propensity to find fault but never offer a solution.

What exactly would you do, given that your constantly telling us that we overspend on players and now we have got some cash to change that, you turn on them for giving too much.

You maybe very smart in some ways Wiz but when it comes to management principles you have as much ability as Arnie would in  understanding  a balance sheet .

Both of you could play noughts and crosses on it and brag about solving the cross word puzzle you think it is..

            • Front loading them on overs doesn't mean the entire duration of the contract is overs. It works like a signing bonus. The point is to take contract money from future years and pull it into the current/next year of the contract. It happens all the time. The risk is that the player gets a lot of his money up front then agitates for a release later on.

Must be injured but nothing from club about it, Doorey into the 17. dogs not the biggest team so probably shouldn't cause big issues for us.
