Nick Weeks, the head of the NRL "Integrity" unit.

"The NRL ruled out Eels players taking across the board pay cuts to allow the club to drop below the cap.

That would not fall under the players' nominal fee requirements, their worth as players as determined by the game's governing body"

So how the f&*K does Lachlan Coote, Matt Gillett, James Roberts and co sign on for hundreds of thousands less than "their worth" What does the governing body determine their true market values are?

I'll cop our punishment on the chin, but as for this fixing the double standards of the NRL and preaching it is a fair playing field. You can stick that up your ass Greenburg. Today only further highlights how biased the competition and those running it is.

  • It was always going to be this way Bert. The NRL reminds me of FIFA !

  • Not surprised at all by this, it was the same as when we missed out on Falonk, but it's fine for other clubs to have players to take cuts to stay at a club.

We deserve all the punishment coming our way but it doesn't take the NRL any less incompetent.

  • Was thinking the exact same thing

  • If all 25 take a small % pay cut that averages about 25K then we'd get the reduction easy. Surely that's OK. I mean what's the diff between 250K and 225K etc??

  • It's f*cking joke
    • A
  • The smile on Greenburgs face when walking in was enough for me.
  • They want us dismantled, and they will stop at nothing. You watch apart from Paulo, all our ex players will end up at the Tigers, Knights & Titans to help all NRL clubs that are align with the government body. This should be taken to court but who going to fight for us? There no one in the drivers seat. Let's hope Brad Arthur sticks with us, otherwise we are screwed for years to come.
  • Crying a river just makes those other supporters laugh at us even more. Remain staunch, accept the punishment and go grab a bourb n coke n kebab, and settle in for family time in front of Geordie Shore reruns.

"Sorry should have clarified, 1998 NRL era.
I stuck to what i knew best. I love Luke Burt, still my favourite ever player, hence the dp. He didn't have that flashy skills like Hayne and was undersized but to accomplish 260+ games is an achievement…"

"Can you define what era / year your modern day starts from.
I took Jarryd Hayne on your survey, but I also loved Luke Burt as a team man. Luke Burt reminded me so much of little Paul Taylor, did so much work but never got the credit he deserved."
