Gay marriage Yes or no ?

Gay marriagePersonally I'm still on the fence . As someone with a gay uncle and brother in law I'm obviously keen to see them have the rights to do what they like . But a part of me also sees a few issues with the concept .One issue is , what's next ? It obviously won't finish with just the right to marriage . It never does just finish as these campaigners always find the next goal to aim for . Political correctness has gone mad , will this open the floodgates ?I'm also wondering how this will effect learning in my children's school ? Will my children now be taught about anal and homosexual sex ? At school we were taught about reproductive sex , once this goes through will the education of my children be altered as part of the flow on . These campaigners never stop , they will never be happy and I fear this may just be a small step in things to follow .It's very very easy to say " just give them the right to be miserable " , that's what my first thoughts are as well .Personally , I reckon it's the worst thing they could actually want to have brought in as it will in a way" normalise" them . From my experience gays kinda enjoy the fact they're a little different . They may find that once they lose their victim card and things like Mardi Gras has zero point anymore and Gay Bars start to just become bars they may regret the day they decided to be like the straights completely . What will they have as theirs ? They still can't reproduce , they won't be victims and they'll have their marriage . What's left ?Homosexuals that think that having this right will make them feel complete in my opinion may get a bit of a shock . What's funny is my uncle is a bit older however very stable with a good job and a great partner , they're both very successful and balanced in life . Their opinion is they don't really need marriage to feel happy but if it's on offer they may do it for the party . My brother in laws had his fair share of issues with the grog , he's pretty unstable sometimes and he's very much pro gay marriage . My point being that I think some gays are trying to fill a void that may not have anything to do with the fact they can't marry.I really don't know .....

  • You said 'fill a void'.............I'll show myself out.

  • No thanks.
  • My brother is gay, I've worked with a range of LGBTQ people and have family friends of differing sexual orientations and I think they should have the opportunity to marry just like I have the opportunity to marry. By the way, what's the issue with learning about homosexual sex? There will probably be kids in those classes who are gay. Really, learning about sex in a school environment should be about things like consent, safe sex and STIs and that's applicable to everyone across all spectrum of sexual orientations.

Really, it's none of our business to be able to say - "I don't like that you aren't straight so you shouldn't be able to get married." It's like saying "I don't want you to drink that beer because I don't like it."

In regards to "normalising" them, that's up to the LGBTQ community. Again, not our issue to worry about.

Honestly, what is the issue here? Just have a parliamentary vote on it. It would be passed tomorrow if it were tabled. A non-binding, non-compulsory plebiscite does nothing, it just wastes $122 million that we all know could be spent elsewhere and is actually about 3 times more than what the Federal government has contributed to combating domestic violence in their recent budget.

    • Just have the plebiscite like the democratically elected party promised. What's the issue here? Shorten knowing the polling is questionable.

  • Yes.
  • I am not gay and I dont really want it waved around in my face.... excuse the pun, but I honestly couldn't care less, just pass it already and let them get married if thats what they want to do, they are not hurting anyone
  • It's ridiculous that it's 2017 and I'm Australia equality is such a big issue, Germany just voted on it and they even have it this is a country that took a lot of hatred to homosexuals in both world wars, it's a problem for our country that this is a biggest issue at the moment it's a no brainer.
    • Australia is close to the only so called civilised advanced democratic western nation not to have it

      • Who ever said it make Australia or any other nation more 'civilised' by allowing 'same sex marriage'?
