Wyong Roos

Just reading a article how this side won the wooden spoon in 2013 and two years later arein the grand final for the Jim Beam cup. The coach Rip Taylor whom a have a huge rap on has the knack of getting his teams to the last game of the season, and even when he was coaching in lower grades here at the eels they were either playing major semi finals or the grand finals. If Parra are looking for a lower grade coach this is the man they should get, he's in the mould of a Brian Smith, very smart footy brain.

  • They have made the Grand Final of the NSW Cup because they are now the feeder club for the Roosters (Newtown were previously in this role). Taylor has a fine record but Parra have already made their appointment for next year.
    • Well that's a shame Sixties
    • Are the under 20s players full time or part time?
  • There's a strategy behind all of the changes in the coaching and support staff next year. There is a big investment being made to improve how we support, manage, treat and condition our players. This will extend down to our junior reps and how they transition. A real overhaul is taking place.
    • For all our sakes I hope it works, cause the top four teams are years ahead of how they play compared to us.
    • Aha, just revealed!
      • Remember it was this time last year they went to United States for a fact finding mission, and look at the results this year, in saying that as long as they keep looking for results I'm fine with it.
        • That trip was the brainchild of a previous employee. Expect a trip to a location just a short distance North that may not be too pleasant this year. No visas needed.
  • What don't you like Spanner?
I've heard the jobs for the boys argument, but Burt has been working as an assistant for a few years now. He often works with the younger blokes in the full time squad and this is a good transition for him. They expect more energy to be evident in the preparation of the NYC team with Burt.
Cayless has been involved with the young players at the club and is also transitioning into the coaching ranks.
I have no issue with blokes who are passionate club men, and are highly experienced first graders that have completed a coaching apprenticeship, being appointed as junior level coaches.
