I was just thinking the other day that if Parramatta were say like Eastern Suburbs, Melbourne, Manly etc that have won a couple of premierships over the last 10 years, would this site be as popular and have as many members/blogs?.
If Parramatta were a good side who regularly finished in the top 8 each year would people just be content and go about their daily lives to focus on other stuff.
I think some people like myself are obsessed with Parramatta eventually winning another premiership and that means a lot more activity on this site with people venting their frustrations and debating.
That's mainly the reason I joined this site, not sure about everyone else.

I've always wondered what I would feel once we won that elusive Premiership. I was only 7 when we won our last one and I only have the faintest memories of the day.
I wonder if I would have the same passion in the years after winning it? Am I enjoying the chase more than anything?
I wonder how the players feel the year after winning.
I can only associate the feeling of winning that elusive premiership with Richmond in the AFL. The feeling of winning in 2017 went long after the game itself, it carries on all of the next year.
And even though they choked in the preliminary final, I wasn't devoed as we had won it last year and we had a good 2018, plus the roster is mainly the same for 2019.
Fui, most players make it to the top due to their competitive nature. After winning they still want to win more than anything as they have felt the rush and enjoyment of victory and as a fan I feel the same. I follow other sports and teams which have won premierships yet still ride same emotions as when I watch eels on lesser scale though as Eels and league are my favourite so don't think it is the chase or anticipation of finally breaking the drought.
If you drink a good beer are you happy to stop? Hell no you want another beer then another then another as they make you feel good. Just like supporting a sports team if they win you want them to win again
This is a good thought provoking blog. Short answer I don’t know?
I think an element of obsession may have crept in after all those near misses. I mean let’s be honest we were good enough between about 1997 to 2009 to have won at least one comp. I doubt there were that many sides who made to at least the major semi phase during that period.
But I think the site would still be popular. The eels were a much loved side win lose or draw.
North Sydney are the only side I can think of that had so many near misses, 1991, 94, 96 and 1997. Plus they made the finals in 95 and 1998 but went out in straight sets.
Yeah they were a good team during that period, Florimo, JT, Mark Soden Billy Moore Gary Larsen etc.
Should have beaten Newcastle in 1997 to face off against Manly in the GF
Aye, Jason Taylor had the chance to kick the winning goal with 3 minutes to go, he missed it and in the next set Matthew Johns kicked a field goal. Taylor kicked 2/5 that day, he was normally a 90% success rate kicker.
Same as with Halligan in 1991, kicked 1/5 and Penrith won by 2 points.......
Not to mention it would have already been over had Seers scored that runaway try. Still not sure how he didn’t score that one
He was ankle tapped by a Newcastle player as he made the break then got up and kept running but that 1 second stoppage probably gave Darren Albert that couple of yards advantage.
Yeah remember when they took Matt Seers off and Soden back on again.... Classic Birmingham!
