Im interested to get other 1Eyed Eels supporters opinions, thoughts advice on re-stumping a house. If your house was built originally with iron bark wooden stumps and its getting time to replace them due to numerous circumstances what is the best option. Replace with wooden, concrete or steel? If the soil is clay/black which can have slight movement from time to time is it best to stay with wooden? It will interesting to read peoples thoughts and their own experiences.

I don't think I can take mutch more of this!
I know I dont like it either. Somebody had to bring this 'hot topic' up! Its the only 'orf season' topic thats never been asked! Why? Because its a sensitive and delicate subject. Most cricket players will talk about 'stumps' all day but footy fans now thats different.
Yer good point
I would try for the cheapest option mate. No land rates
What is the cheapest option?
Lol
Concrete, I don't know why but that's what I would go with.
Thanks Scott, its certainly not an easy selection between the 3. They appear to all have pros and cons.
Height would be a big factor too, if your talking 1000m I'd possibly be thinking timber, if it's only around 300-500mm I'd be using concrete.
I don't understand how steel ones would work?
You would have to set concrete bases to mount the steel to?
Yep the steel adjustable stumps are generally set in about 1 metre of concrete but there are varying plans depending on different factors but I think 1 metre of concrete is the general rule. However, you would think that the higher the post then the deeper the concrete. There are concrete bases but I heard a builder say that can be issue if the water isnt able to run off at the base then eventually the steel can rust at the base which inevitably affects the stump. There are quite a few factors to consider and its not a cheap job either.
