Will Parra make the 8?

What are your thoughts. Next 3 games - Panthers, Bulldogs and Roosters. That's no walk in the park, although I'd rather see Parra play the better sides cause they always lose to the rubbish teams.

  • I am not worried about top 8 because I think getting into top 8 means nothing. In the years ahead no one will look back and say "wow we were in top 8 in 2010". I think the way we are playing we won't go far. We have too many issues in our team. We do not have a good halves. Watching the games against Cowboys we made silly mistakes. if we make those mistakes against any top 4 teams they will punish us. Secondly, we cannot reply on Hayne. That is so wrong. Our offense is next nothing. Against Cowboys we let them scored 4 tries and we are second best defense. In fact I think Ando cannot give GF. He had last season and 19 weeks to come up with goods. Any way to me the season is gone.
I must mention that our NRL tournament is rubbish. Our league system encourages team like ours to play rubbish. Our league should be like EPL or La Liga. Where the team gives 100% every week.
  • If Parra are fair dinkum about getting in to the 8, then they should be looking to try and gain some consistency by beating the other notable inconsistent sides on the run home - Dogs, Souths, Warriors and Roosters. All are beatable and all are at either Parra Stadium or Homebush. Of the other games, I actually give us a chance this Saturday night against the Panthers. Not entirely sure why. And the Tigers I think are very beatable despite their lofty position on the table. The Titans should have put 18 points on them last Friday night inside the first 15 minutes and killed the game, it was just poor ball handling that let the Tigers off the hook. And the week before that the Tigers played a badly understrength Broncos side and won with a last kick of the game hail mary play. Parra's double road trip to the Gold Coast followed by the Broncos the following week has the potential to really derail our season.
  • We won't make the 8 on the form displayed in the first 30 minutes or middle of the second half. The Cowboys made us look good in patches there where Hayne & Co carved them up. But man, our ball control was atrocious.

I'd reserve judgement for the Penrith game, if they can win that and play better football for a longer period of the game then we might be a chance.
    • I hear ya! This does feel eerily similar to 2008.... Hot favourites that year but come Round 18/19, we were struggling just outside the top 8. We won a few games in the run home and threatened to make the 8 but come Round 25 and 26 we limped out against the Dragons and the Warriors.
  • I hope so, love Parra,!
    • the game against the penny panthers will show us if we can compete with the top teams and were going to have to do that if we are going to make the 8
  • On paper the answer is YES !
On the paddock - who knows?
    BUT
If the attitude and application of Mon nite continues we will give it better than a fair shot.

We have got to win ALL our games from here and finish 6 or better because playing from 8 could be just a little too difficult as we would need to win ALL the finals to get to the GF.
I think the boys just ran out of petrol in 09.
From 6 the run to the GF has the possiblity of being just a little easier.
A very big ask from any team.
  • This year i think around 26-28 points will get you in the top 8. Very close competition and if we win a few since we are playing all the top teams, they miss out on two points so if you look at it we really score 4 points.
  • Fourth
    • If and when we beat the Panthers saturday night we will go on a little roll and beat the dogs / roosters.

My prediction is we will win at least 5 from our remaining 8 which will put us into the 8 on 28 points. 28 will secure a top 8 spot, but i am hoping and thinking we could win 6 from 8 which could put us on 30 which would place us around 6th.

The only teams in my eyes pretty much locked and loaded are Saints, Panthers and Tigers, from 4th down is only 2 wins ahead of us so if we get hot watch out and don't say we can't do it lets just HOPE WE DO IT.

Saturday will tell all of the fans and players if we will be there or not, can't wait bring em on.
