Jack Wighton is expected to be named in Ricky Stuart's preliminary 21 man squad this Tuesday ahead of his side's clash with the Parramatta Eels on Saturday night despite the Raiders fullback being charged with nine offences.
The 25 year-old has received three charges of reckless or intentionally inflicting actual bodily harm, five counts of common assault, and urinating in a public place.
The maximum sentence for assault occasioning actual bodily arm is a five year prison term.

He'll probably be stood down like he was last week. Can't imagine he'd be allowed to play if he's facing criminal charges.
It's the ARL who look after the Kangaroos. NRL aren't involved with the selection of our national team.
i think that was meningas doing in relation to semi
The NRL leave it up to the clubs until a verdict is handed down by the court. I guess the issue for Canberra is that there's CCTV footage of the incident which reportedly doesn't paint Wighton in a very good light. Whereas with those other incidents it was he said/she said stuff with no concrete proof.
If they let him play and then the CCTV footage is made public which shows Wighton belting someone then they've backed themselves into a corner.
So Apeman saw a whinge blog here too :)
Well we've been victimised by our club for so long it's all we know.
Stockholm syndrome.
Well he's technically not suspended and the NRL has changed its approach in recent years in that players aren't suspended before their case is heard as it can be construed as prejudicial and it's simply unfair to suspend a player who is innocent until proven guilty.
Semi and SKD are perfect examples. Both were accused, neither were suspended and both were completely acquitted of all charges.
Just to be clear, is this another whinge blog? We need all the advantages we can get I guess. Maybe the whole Canberra side can sit it out so we get our first win.
Correct Captain, just some news concerning our rivals this week. If we weren't playing Canberra, I wouldn't have posted it.
