Why would you........

Why would you sign a legitimate contract cross all the t's dot the i's stay within the salary cap as a player, bust your nutsack on the paddock and at training then be told that your services are no longer required. The players at melbourne must be livid at the extent Melbourne have gone to in regards to retaining their 4 marque players, this really puts a sour taste in my mouth that Cameron Smith has spoken for all the players in regards to playing for each other. The fringe first graders and mid range playing squad must be biting their tongues that their lively hood has been taken away and rewarded to those guilty of extra financial benefits.I find it hard to believe that Todd lowrie finds the reasons given acceptable,Lima,Tandy,Manu,Tolman all good players and as far as contracts are concerned all above board now being ushered out the door.I mean basically it's a dog act to have an extra income, renovations, boats, cars and heres the kicker payments for charities and then go look your team mate in the eyes and say you didn't know. The boys in the club know who rorted the system and to what extent they've turned a blind eye for now but cracks will appear and players will begin to ask why am i being moved on?of which will lead to why not so and so,they will then state i was above board so why do i have to uproot my family, lifestyle and friends. So why would you go that extra mile for those players?,why would you take a pay cut knowing full well that certain players still get the extra dollars, why would you be friends with your captain knowing his house is getting renovated for free while you still rent, why would you sit next to a guy on the team bus telling the boys about the big fish he caught in his new boat.Basically in the end why would you..........

  • You are a wise man.
Very good questions and ones I hope that the non marquee players ask themselves and the club.
I was just watching footage of last years GF, and the loss hurts even more, knowing what we all now know.
I hope that the NRL force the storm to break up the dirty bunch who were knowingly rorting the system.
  • Good point mate,it astounds me that the media give cameron smith a voice. He is a proven filthy cheat and yet he is always in the media carrying on as if he is some league oracle.I feel like slapping him with a cold fish every time i see the grub.
    • Agree, and i feel that way about Billy Slater. The only time he looked good was with a black eye.
  • Nice blog. Agree with all of those points. You really have to feel for blokes like Tandy, Tolman and Manu who have put just as much effort into the Storm, have coloured between the lines but are getting shafted by the very club they have bled for. I would love nothing more than to see the NRL break up the big 4 but I just dont see that happening.

    Man I hate the Storm.
  • It will only take one. One man who will finally have the balls to come forward and let the cat out of the bag, who knew, when, how why, then the so called mighty will fall harder than ever.
  • Can't agree.

While some lose... some win.... if the Storm stayed in the cap, Tandy wouldn't have a club... others take pay cuts to go to the club in order to have a chance to win the comp.

Others are made to look better because they are surrounded in great players. Kaufusi and Smith for example have done sweet FA since leaving.....

Anyone forced to leave the Storm is generally going to potentially earn more $$ than they would have beacuse their good form at the storm is exagerated IMO
    • I agree totally with YDIDISAYIDO ..... you play with great players, you increase your performance, your price on the open market increases and everyone is a winner. If you look at the players who leave and you see they are no where as good without the influence of the big 4.

melbourne will remain a great team as long as they have the big 4 and players will continue to lift when tehy play with them. However, break up that big 4 lethal combination and I think your looking at a massive slide down the ladder.

More I look at this whole thing unfold the more I realise we are MILLION to one to snare CRONK , INGLIS in the washup.....

Still think it is wrong what they did but that has been discussed another thousand times over....
  • I am still waiting for the ATO to actually say it's running an investigation into possible tax evasion ...the only position some of these guys may be signing for is as a cell mate in the big house. So if I was a club I'd be carefully considering signing any of these guys only to see them "unavailable" for 6 months plus.
    • Considering the NRL has no legal ability to review a player tax records, there is no reason for the players to cheat the ATO. Doubt taxation will ever be an issue.
