Why we cannot win GF

We support a team, which has rich past and great future. We have bigfan base and we are not cash strapped. We do not have a dud team and wehave aspiration to win grand final one day. So what is the issue withour team?
Last 24 years we have won 4 premierships and 5 minor premierships. Wehave team, which can give top 4 clubs rub for the money. We have bestfull back and a great coach so what is wrong with our club? After lastyears performance we should have been in top 4 but we are not.
Let’s visit probable reasons –
Do we have issues with self believe? Do we think that reaching finalsis what every player’s dream? Do we not want to actually win the grandfinal? I hope not. If that is the case then I think we are wasting ourtime. We are following a team, which does not hold any aspiration forfinal glory.
Do we have issue with our coach? I think Daniel Anderson have donewonderful work with our team. Is he having problem with management? WhatI am mean by that is, does the EELS management prefer certain playersover the others? For example, Morts is not a good 7. It was evident lastyears. Mortimer has done nothing to give him two years extension. Doesit mean that EELS management is backing Morts because of his name? Welost to Sharks twice, why? Why we cannot win against a weak team. Doesour coach is loosing touch?
Hayne, he is loosing touch or having second year syndrome? Last yearhe was fantastic. I can compare his performance with Kaka’s whosingle-handed won the champion league for AC Milan. Is he really havingissue with Daniel Anderson? Hayne is awful this season. So whathappened from the status of “Chosen one” to “Mr No One”.
Do we need a coach for "Offense" as we have Peter Sharp for defense?
We have so many questions and I would like to get answers. As a fan Ideserve answers as to why my team is performing so badly. When the newmanagement came last years they promised heaps but what did we achieve,an appearance to the grand final? Is that all?
I am disgusted with the performance our team. Every season, we tellourselves that we are a slow starter? Why we have to be a slow starter? Why we cannot stay top in the ladder week in and week out? Why our teamperforms miserably day in day out. I am angry because I think players, management does not care about fan’s aspiration. They do not care aboutthe people who beat clod weather, rain to come and see their teamperform. But what they get is trash. I mean if I am a coach I willrelegate whole team to Wenty. Something has to be done to make our club apowerhouse.

  • Well if you have a look at stats, Hayne mightn't be scoring all the tries and making things look brilliant but he is still performing to what he did last year. Last year he was able to roam around without any player picking him up but because of his stellar form last year teams have made plans to stop Hayne as soon as he gets the ball
    • Yep, your spot-on and this is what second-year syndrom is about. Other clubs become aware of your strengths and weaknesses and they start to play on them.

It's really up to the rest of our players and the coaching staff to create space for Jarryd because when he is not facing a perfect defensive line he will still create an opportunity nine times out of ten.
  • I think what was meant was that in the last 29 yrs we have won 4 premierships
  • Not cash strapped? Didn't we need to sell a boat shed and wharf plus a few units to help pay out Fitzy or was that just a beat up? Seemed legit.
    • I think it means in comparison to some others (ie Sharks)
  • Man Your a Downer!

Have Faith in the Mighty Blue 'N' Golds

They Will Turn it Around Eventually!
  • 2nd year syndrome - confidence -or in grown toe nails. IMO too many excuses and not enough accountability.

Lockyer, Folau, Inglis, Slater, Hunt, Prince, Benji, Hodgson and many others never had 2nd year syndrome - so what's the excuse for them?

cameraobscura has put up some valid questions here that deserve better than excuses.

Do we have an offensive (as in attack) coach? If not - why not?
Zero attack = zero points = zero wins.
