It's the gamble you take, not many of Arthurs gambles have come off anyways.
A lot of his gambles have been more costly than a lousy $100k a season.

Of course we were going to have to offer him something a bit better to get him to move here.
There's a fair difference between a development contract and offering an SG Ball player six figures and a top 30 NRL spot. Massive difference in the level of risk involved.
What about the risk in offering a 31yr old a 3yr contract worth well over $500k a season only to play a handful of games?
Which gamble would you rather take?
With modern sports science 31 isn't old. Paul Gallen is still paying and he was 31 six years ago.
