Agreed, and play him on the wing
I was thinking the same thing. No fan of Woods here but surely we could make a play for him at a good price. Surely we have more $$$ available than the Sharks or Roosters on the cap FFS.
We couldn't sign a U/20 player ATM.
With Junior Paulo we have plenty of money tied up in middle forwards for 2019. I don't think there's another half a million in the budget for middle forwards. We might have room for another one on about $150k-$200k but there are more important gaps in our squad than prop/lock.
No Edwards salary, no Scott, maybe no Mannah plus a lot of players off contract, we should have plenty of cash.
We have also given a few extensions (Brown, Alvaro, Smith) plus any of our current contracted players are likely to be back-ended and earning more next year. And we still need to sign an outside back or two and a hooker.
Mannah is contracted for next year and you're kidding if you think he will be keen to retire early and live the rest of his life on half a million dollars less. I reckon he'll keep playing after 2019 as well, whether here or elsewhere.
A few reasons, Brad doesnt like to turn over players, he likes to buy and stick with them not constantly push to be better and be ruthless, its one of his biggest downfalls.
Why buy a gun when BA thinks he can find an injury prone bargain basement buy?
So what does he do with the extra cap space, Snake? Stick it in house-and-land packages on the Gold Coast?
If he buys bargains it's because he's trying to make best use of the cap, so he can spend the money elsewhere in the roster.
