The polar bear, Daniel Alvaro. One of the best rookie props going around. Really played with some pride and passion in his stints this season. His game against Canberra was one of the best I've seen from an interchange prop and his try was one where he was determined not to be stopped.
I agree. Although he might not be the most supremely talented player in the group, his determination and attitude make him stand out for me.
No, but it will help in a round-about way. If you provide a TPA at the lower-end of the player roster it frees up other TPAs for your higher-profiles. It shouldn't be that difficult to organise TPAs for a player like Kieran Foran. He's the type of player pretty much any brand would see benefit in associating them with. With all due respect to Wicksy, who has proved himself to be a champion bloke as well as an exceptional player, maybe his past troubles might make a company less willing to invest in him on a TPA basis, and for me that's a great example of where a supporter-based TPA would truly fill a gap.
Actually by giving an up and comer say $30k in TPA (which a club can't guarantee), you are freeing up $30k of the clubs money to be spent on a top player who may not have the ability to attract TPA's and also may want guaranteed money instead.
For example, someone like Junior or Wicks.
I thought Wicks tried his guts out whenever he got the chance
I think his comeback story is great
