For the sake of some hypothetical off-season discussion because;

  1. I'm Bored at work, and
  2. Desperate for some Parra discussion before the season starts

Let's imagine a world where Dylan signs with another club.
(Leave out any negative sentiment about DB leaving the club for now because it may not even happen, and it's not the point of this Post)

Who are some possible recruits that you would look to sign at 5/8 to partner Moses in the halves?

Personally, I would go all-in for Galvin. Not only is this kid a superstar in the making, he's a die-hard Parra fan. This means he won't be bending the club over a barrell when it comes time to signing every contract, he would sign fair and appropriate offers (hopefully), and he would genuinly want to be here to win a premiership because it would mean just as much to him as all of us... afterall, he is one of us! That's an exciting prospect and to be honest, I would go after Galvin regardless because of this factor. If we landed Galvin I would move DB to Center or FB or whatever, I would just get Galvin in the team and worry about the positions later.

Who are some other candidates that could fit in with Ryles's new fast & agile, Eeletric footy style?

  • Think about 5/8s in systems that need a change (Cogger, Brimson, Te Maire Martin)?
  • Think about 5/8's stuck behind great players that deserve a crack (Wishart, Cole, Schoupp)?
  • Think about someone in SL that could come back (Field, French)?
  • Or, would you stick with Volkman, Hawkins, or Papalii before recruiting?

    • I agree, show Dylan the Eels offer, If he doesn't like it show him the door.

    • Absolutely...

Culture is our biggest problem... we have little to none. Think of that great interview of Jake Duke with Pricey, doesn't matter what you think of Ray, he had more 'Parra' in his little finger than this whole playing group does. I think Ryles is trying to get the culture sorted... it's great.

Forget the roster, forget we need more this or that...as long as we have a shot culture and too many with this play out in the media mercenary mindset we ain't winning shit.

If possible, the club should sit this clown down and say right... you owe us BIG TIME. Paid well on potential for years, stuffed our season, yet to live up to the hype and paycheck... so... tell your manager to knock it off NOW, take your option up before the season starts and show that you actually give a toss about the very club that has given you everything thus far and backed you despite how often you have disappointed us and let us and fans down. That doesn't work for you... then fark off now. I'd sugar coat nothing with him... I think he's too dumb for subtlety... hit him with a brutal truth between the eyes.

      • He needs the wakeup call. On masive overs and looking for more.

We dont need as much as we used to.

      • Best comment thus far. Couldn't have put it any better myself.

  • Give this fulla a crack. He goes alright.

    Nah, seriously, Galvin - he's a gun.

  • I think Volkman myself he was highly regarded but had injuries I think he could be a great option and he is already in our system recruit from within first if possible

    • And we got him for peanuts. Id lock him up in a top 30 contract as an insurance policy.

  • I think we have recruited well in this area and we have a loof players coming through. One not mentioned is brimson.
