I don't understand why the telecrap journos haven't gone to town on this story given the current siutuation with both players' contracts remaining untregistered by the NRL due to the dogs' salary cap issues. We know they all hate Gus and never miss an opportunity to put the boot in. Why have they remained silent on this story? Is there something going on in the background?

Hate to say it however maybe there isn't an issue and everyone is making assumptions.
They'll just deny it and claim it's all good. Maybe if it's later this year and nothing has happened the journos might get excited.
That's never bothered them in the past
someone get buzz online. he has flamed gus and was proved wrong previously
Dogs have a few coming off contract so it might not be an issue
Yea just wait till Brooks signs for em.
Not really as since they are not contracted for 2023 so the money from those players are already available for those player to use
There was an article in December saying they have 8 spots left with only 800k how can that involve the off contract players? So that's not the issue either
it's as mutts said, nothing to see here that's what they are saying but reality they are doing a pick them up and deal with it later, a sort of "bags" of the players and work it out as we go that's not how it should be
this can be avoided with a transfer window
This comment doesn't make sense. The Dogs don't have enough cap room to sign Kikau and Mahoney for 2023. PLayers coming off contract at the end of 2022 have no bearing on that. They have to offload contracted players they have already on the books for 2023 before the NRL will registerr either contract for Kikau or Mahoney.
Exactly iamnot! Does that mean it’s still up in the air and open for counter offers? Seems at the moment Reed has no guarantee he isn’t signing up into another a salary cap debacle.
Nah if they have players coming off contract and that money pays the new signings then the contracts are registered. It appears at this point they are extremley over the cap with what is on the books for 2023, hence the NRL will not register Mahoney, and Kikau s contracts.
